1st Annual Joint Juvenile Justice Conference to take place at APSU
Clarksville, TN – The 1st Annual Joint Juvenile Justice Conference will take place Saturday, April 16th, 2011 on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The Conference will be located on the 3rd floor in the Morgan University Center from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Ivan’s Cultural Ensenble to hold dance auditions
Ivan’s Cultural Ensemble (ICE) to hold open auditions for dancers, all forms of dance are welcome. Selected dancers will have the chance to perform professionally, cross country travel, and will be provided an intensive education in the different arts of dancing. The Auditions are open to all forms of dance and the performing arts including Classical, Jazz, African, Hip Hop, Ballet, Gospel Praise, Salsa, Merengue, Samba and More!

ARRA to offer summer jobs program
One component of the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is to provide youth with a summer employment opportunity. with pay scales to match federal minimum wage and target 12,000 for up to eight weeks of summer employment.
ARRA is part of the new stimulus package signed into law by President Obama. This program encourages youth seeking summer employment to contact the person below based on your county of residence. Greyhounds Youth Football League gearing up for inaugural season
The Clarksville Greyhounds Youth Football League is forming teams for the 2009 football season. The League has four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. There will also be cheerleaders for each age group.
The Clarksville Greyhounds are a member of the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance. They are traveling teams and will play teams from various areas throughout Middle Tennessee.
The TYFA is a very competitive league and have had players and cheerleaders recognized nationally for academics and athletics. This program includes opportunities to compete in regional and national competitions.

Economic Recovery and the African-American Community
“How Will President Obama’s Economic Recovery Bill Affect the African American Community?” The answers can be found in community discussions to be held on March 5 at the Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, from 6-8 p.m.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by the Urban Resource Center and its director, Terry McMoore, in partnership with the Center for Community Change.
Over the next 5 years a half a billion dollars in job training money will be coming to Clarksville. Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) will open a new plant in Clarksville that will hire over 1,000 construction workers to build, and provide over 800 permanent high paying jobs when they open. “Day of Service” targets hunger in Clarksville
Clarksville For Obama will host it’s National Day Of Service event, “Feeding Clarksville’s Needy,” on Saturday, January 17, at Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen, 215 Foster Street, Clarksville, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Loaves and Fishes is a non-profit association organized to help feed the hungry of the Clarksville area.

The Austin Peay State University Student Government Association (SGA) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) will host a Inauguration Watch Party on Tuesday, January 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Morgan University Center ballroom.
Join us in the University Center Ballroom for snacks and drinks to watch this monumental moment in history as Barack Obama is sworn in and becomes the 44th President of the United States.
