APSU announces winners of 2020 Zone 3 First Book Award in Poetry

APSU's Zone 3 PressClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Zone 3 Press recently announced the co-winners of its 2020 First Book award in Poetry.

Judge Paige Lewis selected East Walnut Hills: A Gothic Epic by Emily Spencer and For Daughters Who Walk Out Like Sons by Komal Mathew. The books will be published in fall 2021.

Judy Garland and Margaret O’Brien star in this nostalgic musical film featuring such classic songs as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “The Trolley Song.”  In the year leading up to the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York City.

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Visit Clarksville honored the Roxy Regional Theatre and Grammy award winning banjoist Charlie Cushman in his hometown with the unveiling of “Tennessee Music Pathways” markers.

Local and state leaders, Roxy supporters and the Cushman family gathered in two ceremonies to mark the special commemorations on Thursday, November 19th, 2020.

Tickets are already going quickly for this darkly comic favorite following the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people.

It is officially Fall and the season of caring and giving is fast approaching. Now is the perfect time to give back to the community by volunteering, giving or hosting supply drives to support your favorite local nonprofits.

Clarksville’s DBO Gallery displays Paintings Exhibition that brings awareness to Youth Homelessness

DBO GalleryClarksville, TN – A collection of 12 arresting paintings by Olasubomi Aka-Bashorun will go on display at DBO Gallery in Clarksville, Tennessee next month, to bring awareness to the homeless youth pandemic currently happening on an international scale.

#Homeless Youth Series comprises striking black and white portraits and vignettes that were inspired by Aka-Bashorun’s own encounters, and by photographs by artists like Lee Jeffries.
