The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization hosted a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00am on May 31st, at Veterans Memorial Park, Clarksville. Retired Air Force Maj. Bill Summers, Ward 10 Clarksville city councilman, will be guest speaker.

The 16th APSU Governors Bass Tournament
The team of Sam Lashlee and Jeff Davis literally cast aside the rest of the field as they captured the first-place prize of $4,000 in the 16th annual Governors Bass Tournament, Sunday. Lashlee, of Camden, and Davis, of Waverly, came away with a catch of 29.12 pounds to easily outdistance Scott Mansfield, who hauled in 22.42 to take second place and $1,500.
H.O.P.E. awards four scholarships
The Hispanic Organization for Progress & Education issued the Juan Vasquez scholarship to 4 High School students from Clarksville-Montgomery County area: Yarliz Rodriguez, Francis Nicole Griffin, Rebecca S. Keyes, and Yazarette Guzman. In addition, Ismael Onate from the El Toro De Don Jose mexican restaurant presented the first installment of what they hope will be an annual scholarship award that will “Give something back to the community”.
Poet Malcolm Glass at the APSU Spring Salon Series
The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the Downtown Artists Cooperative co-hosted a Spring Salon that featured poet Malcolm Glass who presented “Poetry’s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed: A Reading with Commentary,”at the Montgomery County Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 501, Clarksville on Monday, May 17th, at 5:30 pm.
