George Singleton, noted for his humorous tales about the rural South, is the author of four collections of stories: These People Are Us, The Half-Mammals of Dixie, Why Dogs Chase Cars, Drowning in Gruel; and two novels: Novel and Work Shirts for Madmen. His most recent collection is entitled Pep Talks, Warnings and Screeds: Indispensable Wisdom and Cautionary Advice for Writers.

Keynote Banquet with the Authors
FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2009
The banquet was held at the Clarksville Country Club featuring keynote speaker John Egerton. Eleven authors signed their books and were available to meet you at our “Meet the Authors” reception from 5:30pm to 6:20pm. Dinner was at 6:20pm. This was a social event with your favorite authors in a beautiful setting with fine food.

Mayor Johnny Piper and City officials held the ground breaking ceremony on the new Marina and Redeveloped Fairgrounds Park on July 16 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The public was invited and refreshments was available to guest.
