APSU to hold Military/Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony December 12th for Fall Graduates

Clarksville, TN – Active duty and military veteran students who will graduate from Austin Peay State University in December will receive APSU’s military coin.
The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, December 12th in the Music/Mass Communication Building Mabry Concert Hall. The event is open to the public.
APSU employees announce their professional, scholarly achievements

Clarksville, TN – Three faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Jill Franks, professor of languages and literature, had her book, titled “Voices of Irish and British Women Writers: A Comparative Feminist Analysis,” accepted for publication by McFarland and Company. It is scheduled for release in Spring 2013. [Read more]
Eight APSU ROTC cadets named Distinguished Military Graduate

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University had eight ROTC cadets designated Distinguished Military Graduates, representing the top 20 percent in the nation among 5,592 cadets.
One of APSU’s eight cadets, Sean Hunt – who received the prestigious Legion of Valor Bronze Cross Award last month – is ranked No. 11 in the nation.
APSU ROTC Cadet Nathan Brewer graduates Warrior Forge with excellence award

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University ROTC student graduated with high honors July 13th from the 3rd Regiment during the summer Warrior Forge program at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington.
Cadet Nathan Brewer finished No. 2 out of 441 cadets in his regiment from the 273 schools in Cadet Command. [Read more]
APSU invites alumni and friends to Alumni University

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University alumni who would like to come back to campus to see all the many changes that have occurred in the years since they graduated are invited to Alumni University on Saturday, July 28th.
Alumni University also is open to friends and supporters of APSU. Cost is $30.00 per person or $45.00 per couple. Tuition includes all course offerings, activities, transportation, tours and meals during the event. [Read more]
APSU to graduate record 1,000-plus students May 4th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will award degrees to 1,075 students – the largest class in APSU history – during its 83rd Spring Commencement on Friday, May 4th in the Dunn Center.
More students are graduating from APSU because of the University’s increased efforts to offer students more opportunities to finish their degrees faster. One of those opportunities is APSU’s new Winter Term, which launched in December 2011. Some of the students will be able to graduate May 4th because they took a course during Winter Term. [Read more]

Electronic gate will especially help Soldiers, ROTC Students
Clarksville, TN – State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville), State Senator Tim Barnes (D-Clarksville) and Ward 11 City Councilwoman Kaye Jones announced this week that residents will have greater access to Dunbar Cave State Park thanks to an upgraded, automatic gate.
“I am grateful to the Department of Environment and Conversation, Tennessee State Parks, and the Dunbar Cave park staff for their help in making this state treasure more accessible,” Pitts said. “Our citizens now have an expanded opportunity to use the park.”
