Clarksville, TN – The Department of Art and Design, with support from The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome Safa Samiezadé-Yazd to the campus of Austin Peay State University.
Samiezadé-Yazd will be on campus to give a brief introduction into the world of Arabic calligraphy, graffiti writing, street art and urban culture, and the artists, graffiti writers and typographers who keep the tradition alive.

Lopez will be discussing her work as a sculptural ceramicist at 7:00pm, Thursday, September 3rd, in the Trahern Building.
APSU to break ground on new fine arts building September 1st

Clarksville, TN – When Barry Jones was a student at Austin Peay State University in the early 1990s, he heard rumors about a new fine arts building going up on campus.
Ten years later, Jones returned to his alma mater as an assistant professor, and he was reassured that the growing art department would soon move out of the cramped Trahern Building.

APSU art students animate stories by Clarksville Academy second graders

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this week, a crowd gathered along the edges of a red carpet running through the lobby of the Austin Peay State University Trahern Building. They held up smartphone cameras and leaned over each other, trying to get a better view.
The whole thing felt a bit like an old Hollywood movie premiere, and that feeling only increased when, at 1:00pm, the doors opened and the students in Frances Traughber’s second grade class at Clarksville Academy shuffled down the carpet.

Ausitn Peay State University Theatre and Dance to present Tony-winning “RED” August 25th-26th

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2014-15 season at 7:30pm on August 25th and August 26th in the Trahern Theater with John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play “RED.”
The play, directed by APSU Assistant Professor of Theatre Noel Rennerfeldt, tells the story of famed American painter Mark Rothko and his struggle between artistic integrity and commercialism while painting murals for the Four Seasons restaurant. [Read more]
Etcetera art exhibit comes to APSU on October 8th

Clarksville, TN – Artist Jennifer Oliphant wants to create a new appreciation for the beauty of everyday objects. That’s what she has in mind when she sets out to capture images with her camera.

APSU invites alumni and friends to Alumni University

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University alumni who would like to come back to campus to see all the many changes that have occurred in the years since they graduated are invited to Alumni University on Saturday, July 28th.
Alumni University also is open to friends and supporters of APSU. Cost is $30.00 per person or $45.00 per couple. Tuition includes all course offerings, activities, transportation, tours and meals during the event. [Read more]
