Bi-County Solid Waste Management makes changes to Recycling Program that take effect July 1st

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Bi-County Solid Waste Management’s Board of Directors met earlier this month to discuss changes to the current recycling program. Bi-County is fiscally responsible for the management of waste and recycling for Montgomery County and Stewart County.

Over the past few years, the recycling market has changed and landfill management costs have increased. After reviewing the program’s policies and finances, the Board voted to approve changes to paper and cardboard recycling.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP) held the second green ribbon cutting of the week on September 25th, 2018 to celebrate Heritage Bank’s completion of the Certification Program.

The ceremony was attended by Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Melinda Shepard of the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, David Graham Director of Bi-County Solid Waste, CMCGCP Steering Committee member Rose Melton (Altra Federal Credit Union), CMCGCP Steering Committee member Doug Jones (Montgomery County), and CMCGCP Manager Carlye Sommers.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Great American Clean-up event has Hundreds take part

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – On Saturday, April 28th, 2018 more than 400 people came out to the annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Great American Clean-up event. Participants cleaned up litter in various areas of the community from the industrial park to downtown.

The event is promoted through the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce and organized through Bi-County Solid Waste Management.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP) held a green ribbon cutting on Tuesday to celebrate Clarksville County Club (CCC) as the newest green organization.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Recertification Refresher Class at Agero

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, June 20th, Agero hosted the Clarksville-Montgomery County’s Green Certification Program’s refresher class. Thirty-one attendees representing many of the organizations that originally certified in 2013 and 2015 participated in the class.

The class reviewed the latest environmental concerns in our community, discussed the impacts on the environment, and shared their ideas and continued improvements within their own organizations.

Oasis Café Earns National Recognition for CMCSS

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) will be among a small handful of districts nationwide to receive an honorable mention at the National School Boards Association Magna Awards ceremony this week.

CMCSS joined four other districts in Georgia, California, South Carolina and Louisiana in being honored for “taking bold and innovative steps to improve the lives of their students and their communities.”

The group began in January and concluded a series of three workshops that lasted approximately three hours each in March.
