Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department to hold Daddy-Daughter Date Night

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a memorable evening for dad and daughter couples on Thursday, June 19th.
Dinner and dancing will take place at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 1190 Cumberland Drive, Clarksville, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm that evening. Each daughter will receive a corsage and a photographer will be on-site for photos. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Spring Family Campout has been rescheduled to a new date

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Spring Family Campout at Billy Dunlop Park has been rescheduled. The Family Campout, originally scheduled to be held Saturday, May 17th, through Sunday, May 18th, at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road will now be held Saturday, June 21st through Sunday, June 22nd at the same location. Activities will remain the same and will include a bonfire, games, ghost stories and lots of fun! Family Campout will begin at 2:00pm Saturday and run through 9:00am the following morning.
Families who were originally registered for this event still have spots reserved. If this new date does not work with your family’s schedule, please contact the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department at 645-7476 for a refund.
The Family Campout is $10.00 per person or $40.00 per family (up to 6 members) and will include an afternoon and evening of games and fun as well as a hot dog dinner and breakfast provided Sunday morning. Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Summer Youth Program begins June 2nd

Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series, has kicked off its ninth season! The series continues Saturday, May 24th, at Heritage Park, 1241 Peachers Mill Road, Clarksville.
‘Turbo,’ rated PG, will be shown at approximately 8:15pm (dependent on sunset).

New Smart Parking Meters to be installed in Downtown Clarksville starting May 6th

Clarksville, TN – Beginning next Tuesday, May 6th, 2014, the Clarksville Parking Authority will begin installation of new parking meters which will result in several new parking options for downtown visitors.
Each parking stall will be outfitted with a sensor that automatically resets when a car is parked in that space. The meters are set to offer the first hour of parking at no cost. The maximum time allowed in any parking stall will be three hours. [Read more]
Rivers and Spires Festival opening night was outstanding fun

Clarksville, TN – Yesterday was the opening of the 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival, and Clarksvillians turned out in droves to enjoy the first day of the free three day festival. The weather was perfect neither too hot nor too cold, and threatening rain held off until after the Festival had concluded for the evening.
I asked Theresa Harrington, the Executive Director CVB and Vice President Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council how she thought things were going, “I think it’s gonna be great! This weather is going to be the best that we’ve ever had I think. Good crowds are showing up already tonight. You can come down and see see the Clydesdales, stilt walkers, you can see the bands and enjoy the entertainment! The Festival has everything that you can possibly imagine.”

Clarksville Parks and Recreation held 5th Annual Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park on Saturday

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday the city of Clarksville held their 5th Annual Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park. Thousands of Clarksville’s children came out to enjoy the Easter one day early. The event featured over 20,000 Easter eggs spread out over eight different egg hunting sessions on the City of Clarksville’s softball fields.
“This is our fifth year having the Spring Eggstravaganza at Heritage Park. We have over 20,000 eggs, inflatable’s, petting zoo, and a visit by the Easter Bunny of course. We’re looking to have a great time today,” said Matthew Dixon, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Clarksville’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
