Clarksville Parks and Recreation to host Fishing Derby for special needs children and adults

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host the first Adaptive Fishing Derby at Bel-Aire Pool, located at 124 Marie Drive, on Saturday, August 31st from 8:00am to 2:30pm.
Cooling at the Cave draws largest crowd to date

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, the Friends of Dunbar Cave held their Sixth Annual Cooling at the Cave event at Dunbar Cave State Natural Area from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. All ages were welcome and admission was free. It was estimated that between 250 and 300 people came out to the event.
“This is probably the best attended Cooling at the Cave so far,” stated Lionel Senseney, President of Friends of Dunbar Cave. “The weather was just beautiful today.”

Cardboard, and Bottle Boat Races
Clarksville, TN – The Riverfest Regatta, sponsored by U.S. Bank, is not your typical boat race. The boats racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 7th, will be made of cardboard, a few other approved materials and this year, plastic bottles! Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams in each division.
Don’t miss the spectacle! Everyone is invited to watch as groups attempt to paddle their cardboard or plastic bottle boats to the finish line on the Cumberland River at 10:00am Saturday, September 7th, at McGregor Park’s courtesy boat dock.

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville has an announcement regarding the free outdoor showing of the PG-rated movie, “Brave” at Heritage Park this Saturday, July 27th.
Due to multiple reports of disruptions during previous Movies in the Park events held at Heritage Park, all minors will need a parent or guardian to enjoy the movie. [Read more]
Clarksville Montgomery County Schools Director Receives National Award

Montgomery County, TN – Director of Schools Dr. B. J. Worthington was presented with the Bob Grossman Leadership in School Communications Award last week by the National School Public Relations Association at its 60th annual national seminar in San Diego, CA.
Worthington’s selection recognizes him as practicing superintendent of schools or CEO of an education agency, service center or intermediate unit for outstanding leadership in school public relations and communication.

Montgomery County, TN – Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County and the Habitat ReStore are the latest organizations to become Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified.
Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, City of Clarksville’s Chief of Staff Bill Harpel, Habitat for Humanity Board Members and CMC Green Certification Steering Committee Board Members were on hand with Habitat and ReStore employees for their green ribbon cutting held on July 10th.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce Carolyn Pierce, City President, Regions Bank, as the Chairman of the 2013-2014 Board of Directors.
Steven Stroman has also been appointed as the Chair-Elect and will serve as the Chairperson for the 2014-2015 term.
