Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville was recently recognized by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation as a “Walk with Me Tennessee” community for its pedestrian friendliness. The “Walk with Me Tennessee” program strives to increase awareness of alternate transportation in order to improve the health of Tennesseans, reduce environmental impacts and help citizens save money in fuel costs.

Fall ‘Pick Up’ Service About To Get Underway

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Beginning November 1st, 2010, the Clarksville Street Department will begin picking up yard debris, leaves and limbs. This service will continue through November 30th, 2010. Yard debris such as leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or cardboard boxes and placed near the street.

Tree limbs must be 4′ or less in length. The Street Department will not pick up limbs at a commercial location where the company has pruned trees.

In order to have your yard debris picked up, you must contact the Clarksville Street Department at 931-645-7464, between 7:00am and 3:30am, Monday thru Friday.

Riverfest 2010The 23rd annual Riverfest Celebration, kicked off Friday night, September 10th at 5:00pm. This free, two day music and arts festival features three stages of a variety of local, regional and nationally-known entertainers, delicious food, and fun for the entire family.

Exit Right hit the Gateway Stage at 7:00pm to a large crowd. The band played until 8:00pm to a cheering audience.

31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic

City of ClarksvilleThe 31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic is set to take place this September 18th-19th at Swan Lake Golf Course. This popular golf tournament is a favorite among local golfers and features one of the largest fields of amateur players in the area.

Mayors Golf ClassicThe Mayor’s Golf Classic is also the last tournament of the year that offers points for the Local Tournament of Champions.

The deadline to enter the tournament is noon on Thursday, September 16th. The tournament is limited to 124 players. The entry fee of $110.00 includes one practice round at Swan Lake Golf Course on either September 13th through 17th (Practice round must be scheduled at Swan Lake and does not include a golf cart), lunch on both days of the tournament, use of a golf cart, commemorative gifts and the opportunity to win prizes. Jammin' In the AlleyThe band is made up of four local musicians- Neil Brock, Joe Wall, Rick Goodwin, Brian Glass- all who have been playing in Clarksville since their teen years. After years of traveling around and playing in different bands such as, The Sizzling Happy Family, His Boy Elroy, The Beagles, and The Billygoats and Myth- just to name a few, have now come together and formed The Sell Outs, playing classic guitar rock in the Clarksville area. Playing music from the late 60’s to the 21st century and covering bands like Santana, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Sublime, Rolling Stones and much more- everyone is sure to have a good time!
