City of Clarksville to open BCycle station at APSU

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Austin Peay State University are partnering to open a Clarksville BCycle station on campus and offer currently enrolled APSU students free annual bike-share memberships.

Thanks to an award-winning “Great Green Idea” by former SGA President Frank Burns, the support of the Student Government Association and the Sustainable Campus Fee Committee, a new station with 10 BCycles has been installed at the Foy Recreation Center.

Gleaming new BCycles, customized with special APSU graphics, stand ready for use at the new Clarksville BCycle station near APSU’s Foy Recreation Center. The station will be dedicated Thursday.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Griffis Team of Exit Realty Screamin’ Eagle is the latest organization to join the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP).

A green ribbon cutting was held in their honor on the morning of Tuesday, August 21st, 2018. City of Clarksville Chief of Staff Heather Fleming, CMCGCP Steering Committee member Rose Melton (Altra Federal Credit Union), CMCGCP Steering Committee member Bill Harpel (City of Clarksville), and CMCGCP Manager Carlye Sommers attended the ceremony.

Clarksville RiverFestClarksville, TN – Sister Hazel will be the featured headliner for Riverfest 2018, the City of Clarksville’s arts and entertainment festival now in its 31st year.

Sister Hazel, a mainstay on the Billboard country and adult alternative charts for more than two decades, will perform at 9:15pm Saturday, September 8th on the Miller Lite Stage at McGregor Park. The concert is free and open to the public.

City of Clarksville provides 85 year old Woman with New Home

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Mildred Johnson recently moved into a brand new home built at the same address where she had lived for nearly 50 years, thanks to the City of Clarksville’s Housing Rehabilitation Program.

“Programs like Housing Rehabilitation are so rewarding and beneficial to our residents like Ms. Johnson,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan presents Mildred Johnson with a set of keys to her new home on June 29th. Johnson’s home was originally a rehab project under the City’s Housing Rehabilitation Program, but turned into a complete rebuild after extensive repairs were identified.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville commemorated the July 4th holiday with their 11th annual Independence Day Celebration at Liberty Park on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. Festivities began at 5:30pm with kids activities and music at the Liberty Park Amphitheater.

The free concert was part of Clarksville’s Road to Riverfest concert series. The 101st Airborne Division Band kicked things off and then at 8:00pm, Carl Wockner took the stage playing his own style of acoustical folk/pop music.

Clarksville Wayfinding project gets state grant

Updated signs will direct motorists to tourist attractions in Clarksville

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – A local wayfinding signage project will benefit from a $75,000 Tourism Enhancement Grant presented Monday to the City of Clarksville by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.

The signage project is a partnership between the City and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau, which is also known as Visit Clarksville.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will present its 11th annual Independence Day Celebration on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at Liberty Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Liberty Park will open at 5:00pm to allow handicap parking and activities and music will begin at 6:30pm. Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
