Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, is excited to present “Sevier Days,” an 18th century, pre-Civil War event from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, September 16th and 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, September 17th, 2016.

Documentaries Exploring Clarksville’s Past, Present, and Future to be shown at Roxy Regional Theatre

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville/Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council and Roxy Regional Theatre will present during the month of September a series of six videos exploring people and events from Clarksville’s past, present and future.

The series will take place in the Roxy theatre on Sundays and Tuesdays and was made possible by a placemaking grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. The showings are free and open to the public.

The videos run about 30 minutes and community members are encouraged to join in the discussion afterward exploring Clarksville’s unique character and how to maintain and enhance a strong sense of place in its citizens.

Documentary on the 1863-1890 diary of Clarksvillian Nannie Haskins Williams will be held Sunday, September 4th.

This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – On Thursday, July 21st, 2016 Author Stephen Davis will be giving a talk, “General John Bell Hood and Confederate Army Command in Tennessee” and signing copies of his book, “A Long and Bloody Task” at the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center located at 120 Duncan Street, Clarksville, TN.

Spring of 1864 brought a whole new war to the Western Theater, with new commanders and what would become a new style of warfare.

Grace Among the Leavings Debuts at the Roxy Regional Theatre

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Local author Beverly Fisher was present in theotherspace at the Roxy Regional Theater on Monday, June 20th, as her novella “Grace Among the Leavings” turned dramatic presentation debuted in Clarksville.

Based on Fisher’s family research and Civil War gleanings, “Grace Among The Leavings” tells the story of eleven-year-old Grace Meadows and her family’s hard times in the wake of war.

It features Ava DoVanne, a rising seventh grader, in the starring role. As Grace, DoVanne showed her command of the script and the stage in her performance.

Local Attorney Beverly Fisher’s “Grace Among The Leavings” Completes the Journey to the Stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace, June 20th – June 28th

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – The journey from the page to the stage does not always follow an established route: sometimes a new path must be forged.

Following months of adapting, rewriting and workshopping, Beverly Fisher’s Civil War novella “Grace Among The Leavings” completes its journey to the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace with four staged readings, June 20th – June 28th.

Originally adapted to the stage by Dennis Darling and Kari Catton and produced by Theatre in the Park in Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site in Illinois, “Grace Among The Leavings” underwent further adaptation this past year by Roxy Regional Theatre co-founder and artistic director John McDonald.
