APSU, Woodward Library host exhibition on Lincoln and American Civil War

Clarksville, TN – In honor of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Felix G. Woodward Library at Austin Peay State University is hosting an exhibition, titled “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War.”
On display from September 4th through October 15th, the exhibition will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, September 8th at 3:00pm in the Woodward Library. APSU President Dr. Alisa White and Woodward Library Director Joe Weber will perform the ribbon cutting ceremony. [Read more]

This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

APSU professor Thompson researching history of World War II POWs in Tennessee

Clarksville, TN – As thousands of American men traveled overseas to fight for the Allied forces during World War II, a surprising number of captured Axis prisoners of war (POWs) were making the opposite intercontinental journey.
A total of 425,000 Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan) POWs were held all across the United States in nearly every state. This marked the first time since the Civil War that large numbers of POWs were held on American soil.

Clarksville, TN – In 1983 an abandoned movie house was saved from the wrecking ball, and on November 3rd, what has become the cornerstone of arts and entertainment in Clarksville-Montgomery County opened to a grand ovation.
Through grit, determination and support from likeminded individuals, the Roxy Regional Theatre is now poised to celebrate 33 years of providing an educational and artistic outlet for the Southeast.
Featuring world premieres, red-hot musicals, theatre standards and fantastic children’s programming, the Roxy Regional Theatre’s 2015-2016 mainstage season will open on September 25th with Charles Dickens’ classic tale of the boy who asked for more, Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!”
