Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council, in partnership with Austin Peay State University and the Tennessee Arts Commission, will be holding the the Tenth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference June 5th and 6th, 2014, on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker Susan Gregg Gilmore, critically-acclaimed novelist and author of Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen, The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove and The Funeral Dress.
Friends of Fort Defiance Gear up for Annual Fundraising Event

Clarksville, TN – The Friends of Fort Defiance is excited to announce the date for this year’s March to the Past fundraising event: Saturday, June 14th from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center.
Live demonstrations of quilting, firing, clothing, and medicine will be sure to give the community a clear depiction of the Civil War era.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center adds second session to its popular Civil War Summer Camp

Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, is proud to host the City’s Civil War Summer Camp for youth in the 5th and 6th grades. The Camp was so popular in its first year that a second one-week session has been added to allow for more kids to participate!

Fort Defiance played host to a one day Civil War Artifacts Exhibit

Clarksville, TN – John and Nikki Walsh have been collecting Civil War antiquities for many years. During that time they have established a museum quality collection of historic Civil War artifacts from throughout the middle Tennessee region.
n Saturday many of these items came to Clarksville for a one-day exhibit at the Fort defiance visitors center.
