New endowment, Reagan Giving Circle, honors longtime APSU marketing professor

Clarksville, TN – In the late 1960s, soon after earning her bachelor’s degree in business, Dr. Carmen Reagan began making her mark in higher education, teaching business courses at a time when opportunities for women were not as plentiful as they are today.
“The situation for women has definitely improved,” Reagan said. “There are many more opportunities for women today than when I went to college.”
After teaching in colleges and universities throughout Mississippi and at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Reagan came to Austin Peay State University in 1988 as associate professor of marketing. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network will hold its first annual “Connecting for Good,” Resource Fair designed to connect nonprofit organizations with local businesses and the community. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 from 11:00am-4:00pm, at the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Office located at 25 Jefferson Street in the Green Bank.
Most people recognize that Clarksville-Montgomery County’s nonprofit sector—a rich array of organizations of diverse sizes and purposes deliver crucial services that bring hope and help to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, November 5th at 7:30am, the Chamber will host the 19th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast at APSU’s Morgan University Center. The breakfast is an excellent opportunity to honor and show support of our veterans.

Cumberland Paints and Supply Grand Opening

Clarksville, TN – Cumberland Paints and Supply held their Grand Opening Thursday, September 29th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. The Clarksville Chamber of Commerce was on hand for the 2:00pm ribbon cutting.
Several people were on hand, including painters and contractors to help them celebrate their opening. There was plenty of food and refreshments for those that attended.

(BMU) announced today that they are planning a $75 million expansion to their site in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Corporate Business Park. This location serves as the US Corporate Headquarters for steel cord production.

APSU receives Partner Service Award from CMCSS, Chamber of Commerce

Local school officials and representatives with the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce presented the award during the annual Partners in Education Appreciation Breakfast at the Montgomery County Civic Hall.

Nashville State Community College to plant satellite Campus in Clarksville

School plans expansion to former Saturn dealership
Clarksville, TN – Members of the Montgomery County delegation and area education leaders announced plans Wednesday for a Nashville State Community College satellite campus in Clarksville.
“One of the best ways we can increase job opportunities in our community is through increased access to higher education,” said State Representative Joe Pitts. “Nashville State will add another lane to the higher education bridge in Clarksville and Montgomery County.”
On Monday, the Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission approved the first step for Nashville State to obtain the former Saturn dealership on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, which occupies nearly 18 acres in North Clarksville. State and local officials have been working for years on a deal to bring Nashville State to the city. [Read more]
