Clarksville recognizes close ties with Military during Warrior Week Ceremony at Eternal Flame

Clarksville, TN – As part of the annual Warrior Week celebration (June 16th-24th), the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee held a ceremony at the Eternal Flame monument on Public Square honoring veterans past and present for their service and the sacrifices they make for our nation.
Warrior Week is a week-long celebration that honors military men and women, and their families. It gives local residents and businesses a chance to show appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce holds Business After Hours at Bill Roberts Thunder Road Automotive & Marine

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce held their June Business After Hours at Bill Roberts Thunder Road Automotive & Marine located at 997 South Riverside Drive. A large tent was setup on the centrally located grassy knoll, and McAllister’s Crossroads provided entertainment.
Networking was the name of the game as business people gathered in small groups and engaged in conversations. Free food and drinks were provided. At the same time over at Thunder Road Marine, Mrs Roberts was hosting a lovely wine and cheese reception.

Clarksville, TN – The executive assistant to the president at Austin Peay State University has been named director of APSU Community and Business Relations.
Carol Clark began her new duties June 1st, adding the responsibilities of director to her current position as executive assistant to the president.
As director, Clark will serve as a principal liaison between the University and business and community contacts in Clarksville-Montgomery County and middle Tennessee generally.

APSU Foundation selects new members to serve for 2011

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Foundation has selected 10 new members for 2011.
The APSU Foundation provides the structure through which the University can work directly with special volunteers and community leaders to enhance the financial well being of the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to financially support the University.
The Foundation is a separate entity and is chartered by the state, with the authority to receive private gifts in support of the University. Through its executive committee, the Foundation makes its own policy decisions. The University provides administrative support to the Foundation. [Read more]

The Great American Clean Up Day will be taking place in Montgomery County on May 7th. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the Montgomery County Courthouse at 9:00am that morning. This serves as an excellent opportunity to get involved in activities that improve the quality of life in our community. Initiatives include cleaning up parks and playgrounds, planting trees and flowers as well as hosting recycling drives.

Clarksville, TN – Interview with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan where she talks about the recent storms and flooding in the Clarksville area.
“What we did this year, was to have a different approach this time. We brought the City Officials, County Officials, City Department Heads, Chamber of Commerce and anyone that would have some input to the situation. Everyone met at the Emergency Operations Center to get the information on what we would expect. Then we went into action, having all the departments get their people ready to react to the coming storms.”
Kim also talks about the city budget, the pay raise for City Employees, the East-West Corridor, the Clarksville Electric Department, and the progress of the Clarksville Marina and Liberty Park.
The final day of Rivers and Spires starts off slow, but picks up in the end

Clarksville, TN – Due to unseasonably chilly weather and a blustery wind, the third day of Rivers and Spires looked like it was going to end with a whimper rather than a bang, the victim of the unpredictable spring weather. However as the afternoon wore on, more and more people showed up to enjoy all that the festival had to offer. “The crowd hung in even though we had monsoon winds and rains, and I think it says a lot about this festival, and how much people enjoy it” said Festival Manager Doug Barber.
