This weeks highlights include: Movies in the Park features ‘Wizard of Oz’, Ford Street Mountain Bike Trail Park and Adaptive Yoga to start in July.
Clarksville Transit System offers free rides in June

Clarksville, TN – Every Saturday in June, the Clarksville Transit System is offering free rides.
“We have so many loyal customers and we want to show them our appreciation,” said Arthur Bing of the Clarksville Transit System. “It is CTS’ 27th anniversary and we want to thank our everyday customers and welcome new riders.”
Foster Care Awareness Family Day Celebration

Clarksville, TN – May 17th marked the 5th Annual Foster Care Awareness Family Day Celebration. Over 450 members of the Clarksville Community gathered together to learn about becoming a foster parent at the LEAP Plaza.
Of those that attended there were a total of 9 that signed up to become foster parents.
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 holds annual Memorial Day Candle Light Vigil

Clarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not. The body of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on March 21st of this year. There are 27 remaining missing POW/MIA’s from the State of Tennessee. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.
he Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396 holds this Memorial Day Vigil each year to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces left that country in 1975.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Annual Job Fair, May 29th

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Career Center at Clarksville is co-hosting the annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Job Fair, along with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce.
The Job Fair that will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 10:00am till 2:00pm at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center.
Girl Scouts and Beachaven Winery to Host Second Annual Girl Scout Cookie and Wine Pairing Fundraiser

Clarksville, TN – Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and Beachaven Winery will host the Second Annual ‘Recipes for Success’ Girl Scout Cookie and wine pairing fundraising event on May 20th.
The event will take place at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery from 5:00pm–7:00pm and is for adults 21 and over. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers are honorary co-chairs. [Read more]
Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Gig City Gaming center an experience not to be missed

Clarksville, TN – On Friday, April 25th, CDE Lightband held a kick off event for their Gig City Gaming center at the Rivers and Spires Festival. The gaming center is powered by CDE’s new gigabit internet service. All games are free to play.
Before the ceremony, Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan faced off on Dance Dance Revolution. They both had a good with this gaming experience.
Yesterday at Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival was Outstanding!

Clarksville, TN – The second day of the Rivers and Spires Festival was without a doubt better than the first! Things officially kicked off around 5:00pm though many people started arriving much earlier. I got there around 4:00pn and the streets were already crowded. As the evening wore on, the streets got fuller and fuller, showing that Clarksvillians were turning out in droves for second day of three-day festival.
“I think it’s things are going great!,” said Cal Wray, the Executive Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County economic development Council. This marks his first Rivers and Spires Festival since taking the position in February. “It’s a great crowd, and all of the logistics seem to be going very well from the Convention and Visitors Bureau side as well,” he said. “The Festival is a lot of fun. We have some great vendors, some great acts, and so hopefully everyone will have a good time at the Festival tonight and tomorrow!”

Clarksville, TN – “I am so excited to be leading this walk. The Mid-South Chapter of the National MS Society does a tremendous job of supporting people with MS and those who care about them. This is an important fundraising opportunity because the funds raised give hope to the people living with MS in our community,” said Clarksville Mayor McMillan. “And the walk is really a lot of fun.”
