Murals, Sculptures, Fountains and Flames Fill Clarksville’s Public Art Trail

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville unveiled its 21st public art piece this month. Twelve of the pieces – at least – are in a proximity that’s easily walkable within the city’s downtown core.
Murals, sculptures, fountains, and flames are among the art pieces you’ll see showcased along city streets, urban trails, buildings and throughout the campus of Austin Peay State University, which is adjacent to downtown. Many of the works were designed or created by Clarksville artists.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to celebrate African-American History Month

Clarksville, TN – February is African-American History Month, and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is celebrating in a variety of ways! There will be special programs all month, intended to educate participants on African-American History. All of the library’s events are completely free of charge.
Have you ever wondered about your ancestry but aren’t sure where to begin your research? The Beginner Genealogy Class this weekend will focus specifically on studying African-American genealogy. All experience levels are welcome to attend on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The class will be held in the computer lab on the second floor.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library brings the world of Harry Potter to Life

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library was transformed to look like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter last Thursday as more than 1,000 guests were expected to come out for Harry Potter Book Night.
Children’s Library Assistant Joanna Katz was dressed in a replica of Hermione’s Jewel Ball dress from the fourth movie. Many library employees as well as local children and their parents also joined in the fun, portraying characters from Hagrid to Harry Potter.

Clarksville, TN – The wizarding world of Harry Potter makes an appearance at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library on February 1st, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm as a part of a worldwide celebration of the book series by author J.K. Rowling.
Muggles, witches, and wizards of all ages can join in the fun as areas throughout the library transform into Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade.

101st Airborne Band Cumberland Winds Brass Quintet to perform at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library on the 12th and 13th

Clarksville, TN – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Band will perform in the atrium of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library on Tuesday, December 12th from 6:00pm–7:00pm.
The show will feature several different types of musical groupings for an hour-long concert. Musical offerings will be holiday standards played both traditionally and with a jazzy flair and with vocal performances by band members.

Teen Self-Defense Program at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is collaborating with The Vigilance Group of Brentwood, Tennessee to provide teens with a useful lesson in self-defense. The free self-defense class will be held on Thursday, November 30th at 5:00pm at the public library.
All teens in grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend. Teens are advised to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library’s “Food for Fines” set for November 27th-December 10th

Clarksville, TN – From November 27th through December 10th, exchange canned goods and other select foods for overdue fines at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
Library card holders may have $1.00 of eligible fines waived for each of the following items brought in during the drive: canned soups, canned beans, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned meats, peanut butter, mac and cheese, boxed meals, and full size boxes of cereal. No glass items are accepted.
