Acuff Circle of Excellence seeking nominations for Ovation Awards

Clarksville, TN – The coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts will be presented March 6th, 2016, but nominations already are being sought.
The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patron society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996.

Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale begins Thursday, October 29th

Book Sale Continues Through Halloween
Clarksville, TN – The Friends of the Library Fall Book sale will open Thursday the 29th at 4:00pm with the Friends-only preview until 7:00 pm that evening. Anyone may join the Friends at the door for as little as $5.00.
Thousands of used books from fiction to a myriad of non-fiction subjects to children’s books will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book sale go to support the public library. The sale continues for the general public on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturday (Halloween) from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Pillars of Hope exhibit now on Display at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government has recently accepted the Pillars of Hope exhibit from the Volunteer Clarksville organization.
As many may remember, the Pillars of Hope were created during the 9/11 Serve to Remember Days of Service in 2012, in partnership with the Austin Peay State University Department of Art Professors Ken Shipley and Cynthia Marsh.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Board approves new Strategic Plan

Includes proposal for Expansion of Library Services in Montgomery County
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Board of Trustees approved a Strategic Plan at their July 15th Board meeting that will guide the library through proposed growth and expansion of services in Montgomery County, putting forth an outline that will transform the current single main library into a library system by 2020.
The Strategic Plan was developed through a combination of a community survey, Library staff and Library Board members input, and a community input retreat, which included County Commissioners and other leaders and was held in March of 2015.
Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library to hold Imagination Library “Hats Off to Reading” with First Lady Crissy Haslam

Clarksville, TN – Tennessee’s First Lady Crissy Haslam will be among the celebrity readers at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Thursday, June 25th for a child-centered event to highlight the Montgomery County Imagination Library.
Other guest readers include Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer, Kirby Cannon, APSU Head Football Coach, Gnash, the Predator’s Mascot, Snowbird, and the Tender Paws therapy dogs.
Cuban Artist Mayda Saborit to show Cuban Heart at Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will be featuring Cuban artist Mayda Saborit’s paintings in the alcove gallery at the rear of the first floor with an opening on Friday, June 19th.
Saborit’s painterly and colorful oils capture the feel of Cuba from street life to beautiful landscapes.
Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library Food for Fines to Benefit Manna Café

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is excited to announce its first Food for Fines food drive program that will allow library customers to exchange canned goods and other select foods for library overdue fines.
Food for Fines benefits Manna Cafe and will be held May 26th-June 7th, 2015 at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
Clarksville Youth Guitar Ensemble to perform at Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library May 26th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Youth Guitar Orchestra will premier their debut concert in the atrium of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library at 6:00pm May 26th.
Students ages 8 through 13 will be performing works from the Austin Classical Guitar Curriculum, the United States’ leaders in research on guitar education for youth.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is wrapping up our “Geek the Library” campaign, the goal of which is to raise awareness about the importance of your public library. We hope that you have now added a new verb to your vocabulary—“geek.”
Everyone is passionate about something—whether it’s your smart phone, superheroes, southern cooking or whatever else you love. What you love is what you “geek.”
