Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest. Two finalists were selected from each of the participating elementary schools.
The overall winning artwork is featured on the official race T-shirt and event poster. Along with that honor, the top finalist has been awarded $100.00 for their art class. The top three finalists each won a Chick-fil-a party for their art class. Each finalist received a certificate and art kit which were presented at their schools.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System selects Clarksville High School Assistant Principal

Montgomery County, TN – Shari Tharpe has been selected as the new assistant principal at Clarksville High School, replacing Jean Luna who was named principal.
Mrs. Tharpe’s background is as a science teacher and science department chair at Kenwood High School, where she co-led the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math throughout the district.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System names Assistant Principal for Carmel Elementary

Montgomery County, TN – Susan Holloway has been selected by the Clarksville Montgomery County School System to serve as assistant principal at the community’s newest elementary school, set to open in August.
Holloway currently is the advanced learning specialist for first through fifth grades in the Cobb County, Georgia school system, where she has worked since 1998.
First Thursday ArtWalk in Historic Downtown Clarksville March 1st

Clarksville, TN – The Historic Downtown Clarksville Association (DCA), is proud to announce the First Thursday ArtWalk for March, 2012.
This months artwalk will be held on March 1st, 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and as always will be held in the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, Strawberry Alley, Main Street and Second Street. Participating merchants include The Framemaker, Ingredients, Rogate’s Boutique, ARTifacts, Hodgepodge, and many more.
As always, this is a free event so bring your family and friends downtown to the Artwalk.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System announces New Principal for Rossview Middle to Start Next School Year

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Director of Schools Mike Harris has named Christina Harris as the principal of Rossview Middle School for the next school year. Current Rossview Middle principal Anna Neubauer plans to retire at the end of this school year.
Mrs. Harris graduated Summa Cum Laude with her B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She also earned her M.S. in education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a second M.S. in educational administration from Concordia University in Wisconsin.

West Creek Elementary gets New Assistant Principal

Montgomery County, TN – Michelle Rhodehamel has been named assistant principal at West Creek Elementary School, replacing Mason Bellamy who was appointed principal at Hazelwood Elementary.
Mrs. Rhodehamel has taught kindergarten and fifth grades during her 10-year tenure with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Her experience includes teaching at Northeast, Kenwood and West Creek Elementary Schools.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System HR Reorganization Introduces Educator Quality

Montgomery County, TN – When Bruce Jobe retired last month as the Chief Human Resources Officer, Schools Director Mike Harris named former HR Director Jeanine Chester as the new Chief and promoted former Assistant HR Director Cydney Miller to take over Mrs. Chester’s position. That left the group with the opportunity to reconfigure the open position into a staff member who would be dedicated to the hiring of quality teachers and school administrators.
Phyllis Casebolt, who has served as principal at Clarksville High for the past three years, will begin her duties this month as Director of Educator Quality.
Alternative School Students get a dose of reality

Clarksville, TN – On December 19th, 2011 marked the last day of school for students of the Greenwood Alternative School and the first dose of reality for some. The LEAP Organization facilitated the acclaimed Reality Check program that was sponsored by the Clarksville Montgomery County School System.
Volunteers were asked to sit behind a table that represented different aspects of life such as banks, car dealerships, day cares, college, clothing store, grocery store, and real estate offices.
