Clarksville Downtown Market kicks off 2022 Season

Clarksville, TN – Saturday, May 14th, 2022 was opening day for the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Clarksville Downtown Market. Hundreds of people descended on Downtown Clarksville’s public square looking to buy fresh produce, handcrafted items, flowers, farm grown meats and eggs, as well as food items.
There were giveaways at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation booth, Altra Federal Credit Union booth as well as the Blue Cord Realty booth. In all, there were 92 vendors present displaying their goods to all those that attended.
Fort Defiance to host March to the Past

Clarksville, TN – Ever wondered what 19th-century life was like? Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center will host March to the Past on Saturday, May 14th from 10:00am to 3:00pm to give you a glimpse into that time.
The event, in collaboration with The Friends of Fort Defiance, will be a day of 19th-century living history demonstrations including Civil War camp life, musket and artillery firing, period cooking, and children’s activities.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Queen City Road Race set for Saturday, May 7th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Queen City Road Race presented by Publix returns on Saturday, May 7th from 7:00am to noon, at Liberty Park.
The event will feature a 10K, 5K, and one-mile route. All three routes will begin and end at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Liberty Park. The 1 mile and 5K are held entirely in the park, while the 10K will take runners down Riverside Drive and into McGregor Park.
Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female runners in the 10K and 5K races. Online registration is still available at ClarksvilleParksRec.com and will remain open until 4:00pm. We also welcome in-person registrations the morning of the race.
Movies in the Park returns May 28th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces the return of Movies in the Park, presented by Kyrstin Frate of Keller Williams Realty. The popular event series is set to feature a movie each month at dusk from May through September.
The event will alternate between Liberty Park Amphitheater and Heritage Park Softball Field throughout the season.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Father-Daughter Date Night set for April 9th

Clarksville, TN – Come one, come all to a fun-filled evening where young women from ages 5 to 17 can dance the night away.
The occasion is the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Father-Daughter Date Night, presented by Altra Federal Credit Union from 5:30pm-8:30pm Saturday, April 9th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
The event’s theme is the circus and will feature a sit-down dinner, dancing, games, a photo booth, and crafts for attendees to complete together.
Tiffany Perkins, Event Planning Specialist with Clarksville Parks and Recreation, said the event is designed to make young women feel special.
Fort Defiance to host the Surrender of Clarksville event

Clarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center will host a living history event on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 from 10:00am until 3:00pm to commemorate the surrender of Fort Defiance to Union soldiers in 1862.
The surrender of Clarksville was a significant event in Civil War history, opening the South to Union forces and the capture of Nashville. Uniformed soldiers will provide living history and cannon firing demonstrations. Visitors are invited to tour the permanent exhibit and view the film, “Crossroads of Change.”
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces Caleb Cares Swim League kicks off at New Providence Pool

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host the Caleb Cares Swim League at New Providence Pool beginning March 19th, 2022, with a swim assessment. The league is sponsored by the Caleb Cares Project.
“The Caleb Cares Swim League is a fun way for children of all ages to get involved with the sport of swimming,” said Kimberly Gilbert, Aquatic Superintendent for Clarksville Parks and Recreation. “All skill levels are accepted. We just ask that each participant must be able to swim at least 25 meters without assistance.”
Chocolate Affair returns to traditional format

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host its popular Chocolate Affair event on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. A limited number of tickets are still available.
The Chocolate Affair is an annual event that takes place on the first Saturday in February. Local businesses and caterers provide bite-sized sweet and savory samples of foods that include chocolate in some form or fashion. Awards are presented to vendors for Best Taste, Best Presentation, and Most Creative Use of Chocolate.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Annual Christmas Light Run set for Saturday at McGregor Park

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host its third-annual Christmas Light Run, presented by Fleet Feet, from 4:30pm-6:00pm on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at McGregor Park.
Due to the running event, the Christmas on the Cumberland light display will delay its opening until 6:00pm. The public will not be allowed access to McGregor Park until that time.
Additionally, motorists should be aware that the Christmas Light Run 5K route takes runners across Riverside Drive under the pedestrian bridge and through downtown Clarksville.
Fort Defiance to host 19th Century Christmas

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to come out, grab a cup of eggnog and get ready for a 19th Century Christmas.
This outdoor historical event is on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at Fort Defiance Civil War Park from 2:00pm until 3:30pm.
Visitors will be able to step back in time and create period decorations, visit with a 19th century Santa, decorate a Christmas tree, and enjoy eggnog, cakes, caroling, and more.
