Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Paralympic Experience set for September 26th

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with the Tennessee Association of Blind Athletes and the National Federation of the Blind Paralympic Sport Clarksville to host the Paralympic Experience on Saturday, September 26th at the Heritage Park Softball Complex from 10:00am until 2:00pm.
This event is open to youth and adults at least 8-years-old, including active duty service members and veterans, with physical and visual disabilities, regardless of skill level. [Read more]
Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival, the best yet

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s 2015 Riverfest Festival wrapped up Saturday, September 12th. It was cloudy, cool with a slight breeze. Fantastic weather for the event.
Everything kicked off at 10:00am with Riverfest Regatta and the Human Foosball Tournament. The cardboard boat race is one of the most unique and fun events at Riverfest.
Unlike other boat races, participants in the Regatta compete in boats made from cardboard, plastic bottles and other approved materials. Competitors raced 100 yards on the Cumberland River to the finish line. This year, only two boats sank.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s “Just Ordinary Exercise” workout classes begin September 21st

Clarksville, TN – Ready to get in shape? There are a few spots left in the Kleeman Community Center’s next session of J.O.E. (Just Ordinary Exercise) workout classes beginning September 21st – November 12th!
Cost is only $65.00 with a Community Center ID for 9 weeks’ worth of classes! Classes will meet Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm-7:00pm and are offered to anyone ages 18 and up. Registration is available at recpro.cityofclarksville.com or onsite at the Kleeman Center.
Sleep Under the Stars at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Family Campout

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park. Registration is underway for this fun family camp out beginning at 2:00p. Saturday, September 19th, until 9:00am Sunday, September 20th, at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.
Activities will include a bonfire, games, and lots of fun!

Try Scuba Diving at Clarksville’s Riverfest

Clarksville, TN – If you have ever wondered what it would be like to scuba dive, then here is your chance. Waterdogs Scuba and Safety has partnered with the National Diving Education Association to bring the “Be A Diver” program to Clarksville’s Riverfest Celebration Saturday.
“The Be A Diver” program will let you try scuba diving under the direction of professional scuba instructors. You will learn how to use scuba gear in shallow water and experience what it’s like to breath underwater.

Early afternoon rain doesn’t dampen Friday nights Riverfest

Clarksville, TN – The rain Friday afternoon dissipated, the sun came out and dried off the banks of the Cumberland river. Rain delayed the start of Riverfest, but once it started, it was with a bang.
Those in attendance were welcomed by the sounds of different musical acts on three stages at McGregor Park. Besides the music, there were activities for the family, food, vendors and more.
