Clarksville RiverFestClarksville, TN – Sister Hazel will be the featured headliner for Riverfest 2018, the City of Clarksville’s arts and entertainment festival now in its 31st year.

Sister Hazel, a mainstay on the Billboard country and adult alternative charts for more than two decades, will perform at 9:15pm Saturday, September 8th on the Miller Lite Stage at McGregor Park. The concert is free and open to the public.

City of Clarksville puts on spectacular Independence Day Celebration

City of Clarksville Independence Day Celebration

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville commemorated the July 4th holiday with their 11th annual Independence Day Celebration at Liberty Park on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. Festivities began at 5:30pm with kids activities and music at the Liberty Park Amphitheater.

The free concert was part of Clarksville’s Road to Riverfest concert series. The 101st Airborne Division Band kicked things off and then at 8:00pm, Carl Wockner took the stage playing his own style of acoustical folk/pop music.

Clarksville RiverFestClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts & Heritage Development Council have partnered to host this year’s Riverfest Juried Art Show.

The Riverfest Juried Art Show showcases the work of local artists in four divisions: professional, amateur, senior, and youth.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will present its 11th annual Independence Day Celebration on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at Liberty Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Liberty Park will open at 5:00pm to allow handicap parking and activities and music will begin at 6:30pm. Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is gearing up for fall adult softball with leagues open to men and women ages 18 and older.

League play begins Sunday, August 12th, 2018 at the Heritage Park Softball Complex, 1241 Peachers Mill Road. Games will be played weekly and include the following leagues: Men’s, True Co-Ed (equal men and women), and Co-Ed (at least 2 women, men).

Clarksville Parks and Recreation, TWRA provides outdoor fun with Youth Fishing Rodeo

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency partnered once again with Clarksville Parks & Recreation to host its annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park.

TWRA’s Nate Thompson talked about the event and why it’s important to his agency and the community it serves.

“TWRA has been doing this for at least 15 years, that’s longer than I’ve been here,” Thompson said. “This year we have at least 200 kids signed up. Today’s rodeo just gives them that fishing experience, and for many of them, it’s their first time.”

Clarksville to unveil Pat Head Summitt statue, life-story display, Friday

Pat Head Summitt Legacy PlazaClarksville, TN – Through the keen eyes of a sculptor, an architect and an exhibit designer, the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza has come to life at Freedom Point.

A bronze statue of Coach Summitt, hometown hero and legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, and an interpretative display of her life story will be dedicated at 3:00pmFriday, June 15th, 2018 in Clarksville’s Liberty Park.

“Though her famous ‘stare’ may be missing, our sculpture hopes to embody her passion and fire,” said Brett Grill, sculptor of the Coach Summitt statue. “She was a rare talent, quickly ascending to the highest reaches of her field, which she dominated throughout her career.”

Wonder Kids Triathletes will participate in the three segments of a traditional triathlon: swimming, biking and running.

City of Clarksville’s Bel-Aire Park gets a facelift

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation reopened Bel-Aire Park, a neighborhood green space on Marie Drive off of Peachers Mill Road, Thursday with new and improved playground equipment.

“When I became Mayor, one thing that was very important to me, was ensuring we had recreational opportunities, parks and other amenities for all children to enjoy,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, joined by more than 50 children and staff from the Kleeman Community Center, cut a ribbon during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Bel-Aire Park June 7th, 2018. The ceremony marked the official reopening of the park, after it received much needed equipment upgrades. Improvements include a new playground that meets the current guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
