APSU students join area historians in exploring Fort Defiance

Clarksville, TN – Located on a bluff some 200 feet above the meeting point of the Red River and the Cumberland River, Fort Defiance served a significant role in Clarksville’s participation in the Civil War.
Viewed by Confederates as an ideal site to defend the river approach to Clarksville, the fort eventually was captured by Union forces, who occupied the site for the remainder of the war.

Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, 120 Duncan Street, will host a book signing event from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016.
Author Carolyn Stier Ferrell will be available to sign copies of her seventh book, “Valentine Sevier: Blood on the Bluff,” along with her other six books. At 2:00pm, she will give a presentation on the Sevier family massacre.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan names Jennifer Byard Clarksville Parks and Recreation Director

Clarksville, TN – Jennifer Byard, who has distinguished herself as a leader in positions with several city departments, has been named director of the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announced Friday.
Byard had been Assistant Director since January 2015 and served as interim director of the department after Director Mark Tummons resigned in July to take a position in Texas.

Teen Takeover will feature a video gaming area hosted by Game Stop, DJ entertainment, giveaways, food, human bubble balls, and plenty of room to relax and hang out with friends.

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Convergys are excited to announce Inside Out is coming to the big screen Saturday, September 24th as part of the 2016 Movies in the Park series.
Movies in the Park will take place at the Liberty Park Amphitheater, located at 1188 Cumberland Drive. Pre-show activities will include a free concert with local singer/songwriter, Sarah Jayne at 4:00pm and Christian music artist, Alphonse Prather at 5:00pm.
