Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – As the weather cools down and indoor activities become more popular, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is releasing a new Activity Guide that brings a catalog of those activities into the palm of your hand.

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Activity Guide, released every three months, details all events and activities and provides information about the City’s parks and trails systems.

The guide, traditionally available in printed form, will only be available in a digital version this Fall due to the fluidity of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Clarksville Greenway now has a New Parking Lot

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has opened a new parking lot at the Pollard Road Trailhead of the Clarksville Greenway.

The popularity of the Clarksville Greenway has grown rapidly over the years, and the Pollard Road Trailhead is the most used access point.

The new lot will help alleviate the parking problems and will help visitors avoid parking alongside Pollard Road.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation says one week remains to enter Riverfest Virtual Talent Competition

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – As the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic continues to have a widespread impact, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is adapting the traditional three-day Riverfest celebration into nearly two weeks of in-person and virtual events.

The Riverfest Virtual Talent Competition is included in the lineup of events, and only one week remains for contest entries.

Participants have until August 26th, 2020 to complete an online application that includes a video of their performance that is no more than four minutes in length.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park kicks off Saturday

Liberty Park Athletic Field remains the site Movies in the Park

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Movies in the Park presented by Kyrstin Frate with Keller Williams is back for a third time this summer.

“Pokemon: Detective Pikachu” will be shown on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at the Liberty Park Athletic Field. Activities will begin at 5:30pm, followed by the movie at sunset, which is around 7:30pm.

The first 40 guests will receive a free Movies in the Park popcorn bucket and one free bucket of popcorn provided by Loaves & Fishes TN. The branded bucket will allow guests to receive a $1.00 discount on popcorn at future Movies in the Park events this year.

Pool Parties include distribution of School Supplies

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is helping children gear up for the new school year with the return of the Back to School Splash.

Students, grades K-12, are invited to enjoy low-cost pool parties where they will receive a backpack full of school supplies. Hot dogs, chips, and a drink will be served to students and parents.

“We’re excited to be hosting the Back to School Splash again this year,” said Kimberly Gilbert, Aquatics Superintendent for Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

Clarksville Downtown Market to hold Military Appreciation Day

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Independence Day celebration will look different this year amid health concerns from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

While no fireworks celebration is planned, The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is preparing multiple events and activities leading up to Independence Day.

Events include: Toddler Fourth of July Craft Class, Independence Day Attire creation, Yankee Doodle Dandy Crafts & Snacks, Star-Spangled Family Non-Cooking Class and the Firecracker Virtual 5K.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Billy Dunlop Park to reopen after Renovations

Clarksville Parks and Recreation to hold Billy Dunlop Park ribbon cutting ceremony on June 24th.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – After a 6-month renovation project, Clarksville’s Billy Dunlop Park will reopen with an improved pavilion and extensive landscaping designed to protect the riverbank from erosion.

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 at 9:00am at the park, 1930 E Boyscout Road. After the ceremony, the park will be reopened to the public.

Visitors will find major improvements to the park’s large pavilion, which got structural repairs, a new roof, siding and stone pillars. Other upgrades include new picnic tables, a grill and modern, fully accessible restrooms.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks land for New Recreation Center

Clarksville Parks and Recreation requests proposals for 10-acre sites

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a suitable parcel of at least 10 acres of land for a proposed new regional recreation center.

The City of Clarksville Purchasing Department has posted the formal Request for Proposals, which defines Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s preferred minimum requirements and solicits proposals with adequate information to evaluate the land offered by potential sellers or donors.

Interested parties can access the full Request for Proposals on the City’s website here.

Clarksville Downtown Market to hold Frontline Heroes Appreciation Day this Saturday

Clarksville Downtown MarketClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces that the Clarksville Downtown Market will host a Frontline Heroes Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 13th, 2020. Participating vendors will offer special discounts to frontline workers.
