Opening Ceremony for CPD Youth Coalition Olympics

Clarksville, TN – The opening ceremony for the Clarksville Police Department’s Youth Coalition Olympics will commence at the Clarksville Police Department, 135 Commerce Street, June 4th, 2011, 10:00am.
Around 9:30am, four members of the Youth Coalition escorted by members from the law enforcement, fire department, and emergency services will run from the intersection of Riverside Drive and North Second street to Police Headquarters to kick off the opening ceremonies. The public is invited to attend.
Clarksville Police Department’s Request for Public Assistance

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying two robbery suspects. The robbery occurred May 12th, 2011, around 10:00pm, at the Food Mart, 710 Peachers Mill Road. Two males entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and a customer in the store, demanded and received money from the clerk, and then fled from the store.

National Police Week 2011: Honoring and Remembering our Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

Clarksville, TN – In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 that set aside May 15th as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and the week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week. This year, National Police Week will run from Sunday, May 15th through Saturday, May 21th.
The law was later amended by the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1995, Public Law 103-322 signed by President Bill Clinton, directing that the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff on all government buildings on May 15th each year as a tribute to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. 3rd Annual Youth Coalition Olympics begins June 4th

The April 30th Student Traffic Awareness Training Class

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is continuing their efforts to raise the awareness of the traffic safety issues facing teen drivers. One of the ways is through their Student Traffic Awareness Training (S.T.A.T) classes.
They held a S.T.A.T. class, April 30th and it could not have turned out better.

S.T.A.T. (Student Traffic Awareness Training) Class for Teens
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department will be holding a four (4) hour Student Traffic Awareness Training class for Clarksville Montgomery County high school students who have a learner’s permit or driver’s license.
This class is Free.
Classes will be held April 23rd, 2011; August 20th, 2011 and October 1st, 2011. [Read more]
Local Dentists Present $1,000 Check to the CPD Youth Coalition

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Stanley Montee, DDS and Dr. Carol Montee, DDS presented the Clarksville Police Department a personal donation in the amount of $1,000 for the Clarksville Police Department’s Youth Coalition. The CPD Youth Coalition is a unique program which works with “at risk” juvenile offenders.
The Youth Coalition is a different approach to law enforcement for “at risk” offenders. The approach is a diversion from the old standard of using punitive means for the young offenders and is geared toward breaking patterns of behavior and providing useful life skills. The check was presented to Chief Ansley and the Youth Coalition’s Board of Directors at Police Headquarters.
Clarksville Police Department Put Six New Officers on the Payroll

Clarksville, TN – Mayor Kim McMillan administered the Oath of Office to six new Police Officers for the Clarksville Police Department. Two of the new officers have already attended a Police Academy (Balazy, Bishop) and the other four new officers will attend the Police Academy in Donelson, March 13th-May 20th, 2011.
The new officers are Robert Thompson, Joshua Godwin, Lukasz Balazy (Certified officer), Seth Paugh, Paul Bishop (Certified officer), and Nathan Lee.
Applicants Sought for Citizen Police Academy

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is taking applications for the next Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) class which runs from March 29th – June 7th, 2011. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
The CPA covers all facets of the Police Department’s activities from administration to tactical operations. Citizens are given an opportunity to not only learn about Police Department functions, but also afforded a chance to participate in activities such as: police vehicle operations, firearms instruction, self-defense techniques, and use of force decision-making exercises.
