Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department to hold several Independence Day programs

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Independence Day celebration will look different this year amid health concerns from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
While no fireworks celebration is planned, The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is preparing multiple events and activities leading up to Independence Day.
Events include: Toddler Fourth of July Craft Class, Independence Day Attire creation, Yankee Doodle Dandy Crafts & Snacks, Star-Spangled Family Non-Cooking Class and the Firecracker Virtual 5K.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Summer Youth Program to feature Activity Packs, Virtual Programming

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will not host an in-person Summer Youth Program this year to ensure the safety of the public during the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. However, plans have been finalized for a free “virtual” summer camp experience!
The virtual camp will be June 1st to July 10th and will consist of two components: weekly activity packs that children can enjoy at home, and virtual programming which will be shared online and on the Clarksville Community Network. Children can participate in one or both components.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s 50 Plus Games set for May 11th-16th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registration for the 50 plus games for adults 50 and up from now until May 4th, 2020.
This year’s events will be May 11th-16th at venues across Clarksville, including Crow Recreation Center, Swan Lake Sports Complex, Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center, Austin Peay State University Foy Center, Ajax Turner Senior Center, D&D Black Light Mini Golf and Rossview High School track.

Ghost Tours with Clarksville BCycle — 6:00pm-8:00pm Friday, October 11th: Don’t miss this haunted guided tour through the Austin Peay State University (APSU) campus stopping at historical points of interest with dark pasts. Clarksville Parks and Recreation excepting registrations for Youth Basketball League

Clarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a co-ed youth basketball league for boys and girls ages 7 to 15.
Volunteer coaches will work with children to improve individual skills in dribbling, passing and shooting while instilling values in teamwork and sportsmanship. Parents of players are also expected to help create a positive environment at games by exhibiting good sportsmanship.
Players will be placed on teams through a skills assessment process conducted by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. There will be no draft of players by coaches this year.

Clarksville, TN – The 2019 September-December Clarksville Parks and Recreation Activity Guide is now available, offering details about more than 100 programs and events, a detailed map showing all 48 of the department’s parks, trails and facilities, and information about rentals for private functions.
The guide also offers information about more than 20 new events and programs from September to December in the City’s parks, recreation centers and pools and includes information about current and upcoming park projects and improvements.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to offer the following homesteading classes in the coming weeks.
How to Make a Seed Bomb will be held from 10:00am to noon, Saturday, April 13th at Billy Dunlop Park. Clarksville City Forester Kathrine Killebrew will teach participants how to make seed bombs and use them to grow flowers.
