Ladies are you ready for some football!
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football coaching staff will host the fourth-annual Women’s Football Clinic, Saturday, July 23rd in the Dunn Center.
For the fourth-straight year, APSU has served as host to the clinic that features informative presentations by the coaching staff as-well-as an entertaining hands-on demonstration of some fun football drills, explanation of the rules by an OVC Official, equipment, nutrition, training and strategy. APSU head coach Rick Christophel, along with his assistant coaches, will provide instruction.
Come down to McGregor Park Tonight and Celebrate Independence Day

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance are joining together to celebrating our nation’s independence with the fourth annual Independence Day Celebration tonight down at McGregor Park. The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. It all starts 6:00pm.
Local performers Tina Brown and Chris Robertson will provide live music throughout the evening, followed by country music artist, John Anderson. With more than 40 singles on the Billboard country music charts, Anderson has five Number Ones: “Wild and Blue,” “Swingin’,” “Black Sheep,” and “Money in the Bank.” The night will end with a spectacular fireworks finale, the largest in Clarksville.
APSU to offer preschool fitness program in April

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Health and Human Performance will conduct a preschool fitness program next month.
Students enrolled in the health and human performance program will teach classes in body awareness, catching, kicking, throwing and striking skills, rhythm and dance, and gymnastics activities. [Read more]
APSU Foundation sponsoring raffle for chance to win $20,000 cash in February

Clarksville, TN – To help provide scholarships to more students at Austin Peay State University, the APSU Foundation is sponsoring a raffle drawing for a chance to win $20,000 cash.
The raffle drawing will be held during the men’s basketball game between APSU and Southeast Missouri on Saturday, February 26th, 2011, in the Dunn Center. It is not necessary to be present to win.
All proceeds from the raffle are designated for scholarships. Tickets are $10.00 each, and anyone—18 or older—can enter the raffle and increase the chances of winning by buying multiple tickets. [Read more]
APSU’s 2010 Distinguished Professor Award recipient to address degree candidates at graduation

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will send off 631 candidates for degrees during dual Winter Commencement ceremonies December 17th in the Dunn Center.
Dr. Karen Sorenson, professor of French and the 2010 APSU Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient, will be the keynote speaker at both commencement events.
The faculty member who earns the Distinguished Professor Award in May serves as commencement speaker at APSU’s winter graduation.
APSU’s 2010 Homecoming themed ‘Peay Paradise,’ October 4th-9th

Famed teacher who helped students to form Freedom Writers to speak September 30th at APSU

Clarksville, TN – In the fall of 1994, an idealistic first-year teacher at Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA, began her career in a classroom of at-risk students – many of whom were victims of racial intolerance and simply accepted it as part of their lives.
When the teacher, Erin Gruwell, grabbed hold of a note being passed that showed an ugly racial caricature, the moment was the catalyst Gruwell needed to usher her students into an eye-opening journey against intolerance. [Read more]
APSU to hold physical education program for home-schooled children

Clarksville, TN – Beginning in October, Austin Peay State University Department of Health and Human Performance will offer a six-week physical education program for home-schooled children.
Children ages 4-14 are invited to attend physical education classes taught by APSU students seeking health and physical education licensure. Children are divided into four age groups allowing four concurrent teaching stations.
Classes will be held from 1:00pm-1:45pm, Wednesdays, October 6th, 13th, 22nd and 27th and November 3rd and 10th. [Read more]

USGA Golf Rules Class now scheduled for August 7th at APSU

The United States Golf Association rules class, postponed earlier this month at Austin Peay State University, has been rescheduled for 8:30am-10:30am, Saturday August 7th, in the Dunn Center.
The class is for “any golf lover who wants to learn or brush up on the USGA rules of golf,” said Sara Robson, APSU’s golf coach.
Cost for the event will be $10.00 per person, $25.00 per family of three or more. Registration deadline is 5:00pm, August 6th .
