About the Lone Oak Picnic
The Central Civitan Club has sponsored the Lone Oak Picnic since 1975. Lone Oak is a tradition for candidates in Montgomery County. All the money raised is used in the communities south of the Cumberland River through several projects sponsored by the Central Civitan Club.
The Central Civitan Club, for example, supports the local Boy and Girl Scout troops. The club provides financial assistance to victims of house fires in the community. It supports the educational and extracurricular activities of the students, teachers, and staff of both Montgomery Central High School and Cumberland Heights Elementary School.
It also supports the Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League as well as the #BeMoreLikeWade 5K Scholarship Run/Walk/Crawl. These are just a few of the activities the Club Supports.
They also fund scholarships for and support many educational and extra-curricular activities of the students, teachers, and staff at Montgomery Central High School, Montgomery Central Middle School, and Montgomery Central Elementary School as well as Cumberland Heights Elementary School.
Roxy Regional Theatre announces Registration going on now for Fall 2023 School of the Arts

Clarksville, TN – Registration is now open for the Fall 2023 session of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s School of the Arts.
Since 1995, the Roxy Regional Theatre has been introducing youth to the experience of live theatre and expanding their knowledge of the craft through the School of the Arts.
In the Fall 2023 semester, the School of the Arts will continue with a larger group class setting for ages 8 to 18, focused on acting, dance, and improv, culminating in a holiday showcase on the final day.
Visit Clarksville Announces ‘Create at Collinsville’ Event Series

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council, Two Rivers Society of Painters, Downtown Artists Co-op, and Visit Clarksville will host Create at Collinsville, a weekend celebration of traditional Tennessee arts in September 2023. Artists are invited to participate in events throughout the next several months, including workshops, a Plein air paint-out, a community quick draw, and a photography contest.
Two free workshops will be held on Saturday, September 16th at Historic Collinsville Pioneer Settlement. Award-winning artist, Kitty Harvill, will conduct a plein air workshop from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
Chick’nCone holds Grand Opening for Clarksville store

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chick’nCone, a fast-casual restaurant that combines the savory goodness of fried chicken with the convenience of a handheld waffle cone.
The new restaurant, which is located at 1011 Winn Way, just off Exit 11, is the first Chick’nCone to be opened in the state of Tennessee. The grand opening celebration included free food samples, door prizes, and the official introduction of the company’s new honey fire sauce.
Rosemary and Lewis Murphy are the franchise owners who made the Clarksville location possible.
“We are the first in Tennessee,” Rosemary said. “We have friends who opened franchises in New York a couple of years ago. Lewis joined the conversation, “There are about 25 locations currently in the United States, and actually some locations in Dubai.”

Special guest and opener, Dalton Dover appeared on season 16 of ‘The Voice’ and most recently had his Grand Ole Opry Debut in December of 2022. Dover’s top songs include ‘Baby I Am’ ‘You Got a Small Town’ and ‘Giving Up On That.’
18th annual Clarksville Writers Conference to be held June 8th-9th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council is partnering with the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission to once again bring acclaimed authors to town for the 18th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference.
The event will be held Thursday, June 8th, and Friday, June 9th, at the Art + Design Building on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
David George Haskell, writer, and biologist whose book The Forest Unseen: A Year’s Watch in Nature was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction, will deliver the keynote address at the conference’s banquet the evening of Thursday, June 8th, at F&M Bank’s The Franklin Room, overlooking the Cumberland River and featuring an incredible view of Historic Downtown Clarksville.
Customs House Museum Presents Visual Poetry for Women’s History Month

Clarksville, TN – The galleries of the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center celebrate Women’s History Month with a variety of art in new exhibitions.
Within the two-story Crouch Gallery, 14 artists from across the country share their interpretations under the title theme of The Poetry Around Us: Women Painting the Outdoors.
Works include watercolors, oils, and a mobile by Rachael McCampbell, who says of her piece, entitled Flowing, was “inspired by the movement of water from East Tennessee, to the Gulf and back again through storms.”
