Clarksville Police Officers bring a Merry Christmas to 210 children and their families

December 16, 2012

Bill Larson and Officer Jim Knoll of the Clarksville Police Department contributed to this story.

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 15th, 2012, the Clarksville Department in conjunction with the Clarksville Police Union and Fraternal Order of Police made the holidays much brighter for 210 local children by sponsoring the children to a holiday shopping spree at one of the three area, Walmart Supercenter’s. The Police Union and Fraternal Order of Police spent over $20,000 to ensure these kids would have Christmas to remember.

“In these tough economic times when we have so many parents being laid off or losing their jobs as companies downsize; for some of these children, this will be their only Christmas,” said Tyler Barrett, President of the Clarksville Police Union. “We reached out to these families and try to assist them and make sure that their children are able to have the Christmas they deserve.”

AAA reports New E15 Gasoline May Damage Vehicles and Cause Consumer Confusion

December 1, 2012

AAA research reveals need for regulators and industry to suspend E15 sales to protect motorists

AAAOrlando, FL – A recent survey by AAA finds a strong likelihood of consumer confusion and the potential for voided warranties and vehicle damage as a result of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recent approval of E15 gasoline.

An overwhelming 95 percent of consumers surveyed have not heard of E15, a newly approved gasoline blend that contains up to 15 percent ethanol. With little consumer knowledge about E15 and less than five percent of cars on the road approved by automakers to use the fuel, AAA is urging regulators and the industry to stop the sale of E15 until motorists are better protected.

Veteran’s Day Parade Through the Photographers Eyes

November 11, 2012

Written by Lois Jones

Veterans DayClarksville, TN – When I woke up this morning, I had forgotten that the Veteran’s Day parade was being held today. You see, I teach beginning digital photography for the Community School of the Arts (CSA) on Saturday mornings, and as I was nearing Austin Peay, I saw that 8th Street and College Streets were blocked and still didn’t realize what was going on. I had to detour to get to my class and so did all of my students.

When we got to the classroom we discussed the parade and what a fabulous learning experience it would be for the class. Everyone grabbed their cameras and to the parade we went. All we had to do was walk outside the classroom and we were at the parade with a perfect spot to watch.
