Cumberland Winds in Recital at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, May 3rd

Clarksville, TN – While many are familiar with their full band performances, the Cumberland Winds will feature the fine musicians from our community who make up the group during a member’s recital at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at 7:00pm.
Featuring soloists and small ensembles performing varied styles and types of music in the intimate setting of Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre, the evening will include flute, horn and clarinet soloists; a clarinet trio; sax and guitar jazz duo; a low brass duo; sax quartet; and the Cumberland Winds Flute Section.

Roxy Regional Theatre’s Hamlet opens Friday withPay-What-You-Can Night

Clarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre’s pay-what-you-can night for Hamlet is this Friday, April 19th, 2024. All tickets not pre-sold at the regular price will go on sale on Friday evening at 6:30pm for a $5.00 minimum donation.
Hamlet is produced in part by Kurt & Kerri Kowalski. In Shakespeare’s famous revenge tragedy, the ghost of the King of Denmark tells his son Hamlet to avenge his murder by killing the new king, Hamlet’s uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet’s father in order to seize the throne and marry Hamlet’s mother.
Hamlet feigns madness, contemplates life and death, and seeks revenge; while his uncle, fearing for his life, also devises plots to kill Hamlet.

William Shakespeare’s comedic fantasy A Midsummer Night’s Dream consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus, Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons.
One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers, while another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding. Both groups find themselves in a forest inhabited by fairies who manipulate the humans and are engaged in their own domestic intrigue.

Spring Serenade: Clarksville Arts and Heritage Council Presents Free Harp-Oboe Concert

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Council is teaming up with First Presbyterian Church to present an enchanting music concert by composer Claude Debussy in the church sanctuary on Sunday, April 21st at 1:00pm.
The concert by oboist Hannah Cruse and harpist Liana Alpino is free and open to the public.
Although the venue is the formal church sanctuary, Ms. Cruse suggests those attending bring a pillow or blanket to get comfortable and let Debussy’s romantic melodies lull them into a springtime dream.

“Bach to Broadway” Concert featuring Penelope Shumate, Jan Corrothers to be held at the Roxy Regional Theatre this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – The stunning vocal stylings of critically acclaimed soprano Penelope Shumate and expert artistry of pianist Jan Corrothers will fill the Roxy Regional Theatre this Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at 7:30pm. You do not want to miss this special evening for a great cause!
A benefit for the GFWC Clarksville Women’s Club’s efforts to raise funds for Austin Peay State University music student scholarships, the evening will begin with a reception at 6:30pm.
Accompanied by Corrothers, Dr. Shumate will take the stage at 7:30pm to amaze audiences with her smooth and seamless transitions from a variety of classical vocal genres including works by Bach, Debussy, Fauré, Granados, Mahler, and Libby Larsen, to perform well-loved Jazz and Broadway standards.
Historic Collinsville to Celebrate Season Opening April 13th

Clarksville, TN – Historic Collinsville in rural Montgomery County will open its annual season on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, featuring hands-on activities for all ages from 10:00am to 4:00pm as well as the newly opened Weakley House Museum.
The community is invited to a special ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the opening of the Weakley House Museum on Friday, April 12th, at 2:00pm.
Visitors on April 13th will experience “Full STEAM Ahead,” a special theme for opening day with activities and programming featuring science, technology, engineering, art, and math (“STEAM”) projects alongside skilled tradesmen and period-dressed docents. Guests can become part of the past and interact with antiques as they explore the grounds and rooms of the historic buildings. All activities are included with special event admission.
