Rivers and Spires Festiveal 2012 - 10 yearsClarksville, TN – It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we are ready up for the 10th annual Rivers and Spires Festival, April 19th-21st. As usual there will be tons of free concerts, entertainment and activities. But, because it is our birthday, and we think a big one, the Festival has a few surprises up its sleeve, but you’ll have to come out and see!

If you’ve never been to the Rivers & Spires Festival or are new to town, put it on your calendar and get ready to have a great time. Lined with craft and food vendors, six music stages, kids’ activities and artisan booths, Historic Downtown transforms each year as the festival goes into full swing. Music is a big part of the event, with at least two artists on one of the many stages at any given time. But it doesn’t stop at just music. There is art, crafts, a children’s parade, food, drinks and fun to be found on every corner. [Read more]

Fort Campbell salutes America’s Soldiers on Independence Day

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – The 4th of July festivities concluded with the Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Welcome Home Concert and Fireworks Show. The event expresses the communities gratitude for the sacrifices that the soldiers and their families at Fort Campbell makes for our country.

The day opened with an invocation, followed by a short speech by 101st Airborne Division Commander Maj. Gen. John F. Campbell in which he dedicated the day to those both here at home, and in off in far flung war zones who are serving our country.

Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration Draws Huge Crowd

July 4, 2011

Well over 20,000 people jammed the banks of the Cumberland River as the City of Clarksville held their annual Independence Day Celebration last night. This celebration of patriotism is one of the most popular events each year.

The patriotism aspect of the evening was heightened with a visit by Captain and Clark the Rand McNally-USA Today Road Rally Team who is in town judging our city for the Most Patriotic category for the Best of the Road contest. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan was presented a certificate acknowledging the city’s selection as one of the finalist for the Most Patriotic City spot. The ultimate winner will be announced on July 22nd at the Destination Marketing Associations International conference in New Orleans. Contest winners will land a permanent spot on Rand McNally’s new travel site and a place in the 2013 Rand McNally Road Atlas, as well as on USA TODAY’s Travel site. The five other finalists are Emporia, KS; Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Peachtree City, GA; Rapid City, SD; and Williamsburg, VA.

Fort Campbell Independence Day Celebration Tonight

July 4, 2011

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – Fort Campbell will host its annual Independence Day Celebration at the Fort Campbell’s Division Parade Field tonight, July 4th, at 7:00pm. The show will include performances by the Screaming Eagles Parachute Demonstration Team, a 50-gun Salute to the Union, posting of the Colors and fireworks display in addition to free concert by Laura Bell Bundy and Jacob Lyda.

The ever popular Fort Campbell Fireworks Display will start right after the concert. [Read more]

Come down to McGregor Park Tonight and Celebrate Independence Day

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance are joining together to celebrating our nation’s independence with the fourth annual Independence Day Celebration tonight down at McGregor Park. The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. It all starts 6:00pm.

Local performers Tina Brown and Chris Robertson will provide live music throughout the evening, followed by country music artist, John Anderson. With more than 40 singles on the Billboard country music charts, Anderson has five Number Ones: “Wild and Blue,” “Swingin’,” “Black Sheep,” and “Money in the Bank.” The night will end with a spectacular fireworks finale, the largest in Clarksville.
