Austin Peay State University All State cartoonist Christy Walker finalist for National Award

Clarksville, TN – For the first time in its 81-year history, a staff member of Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, The All State, has been named a finalist for college media’s top prize.
Christy Walker, editorial cartoonist for the newspaper, was named a finalist for an individual Pacemaker award, presented annually to the country’s top college journalists and college media outlets. [Read more]
G.I. Jobs Magazine names Austin Peay State University Military Friendly School for 2013

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as Military Friendly School for 2013.
The honor ranks APSU in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, according to a letter from the magazine’s publisher, Rich McCormack. The magazine surveyed more than 12,000 schools, according to the announcement. [Read more]

APSU receives National Science Foundation grant to award scholarships for military and community college students in STEM disciplines

Clarksville, TN – Three Austin Peay State University professors are on the lookout for community college students, active duty military personnel, veterans and dependents interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in the science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) disciplines.
That’s because the National Science Foundation is awarding them more than $500,000 over the next five years to offer scholarships for qualified students in those areas.
APSU to hold August 31st symposium, ‘Economic Terrorism’

Go Commando Half Marathon Team will raise Money for Soldiers, PTSD

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 20th runners will take to the streets during the second annual Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k. A special segment of these athletes will be racing for a cause, to raise awareness of the struggles surrounding PTSD and combat stress.
The Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k powered by CDE Lightband will join the non-profit organization Not Alone in raising awareness of combat stress and PTSD and encourage runners to consider joining Team Not Alone as they prepare for the 2012 race.
