Charity Event to Benefit Camp Rainbow

Clarksville, TN – There is a charity soccer match tonight, October 2nd, at Rossview High School. Clarksville High School and Rossview High School girl’s soccer teams will play against each other to help raise money for Camp Rainbow.

Fort Campbell 2010 Operation Rising Star Winner Announced

Fort Campbell, KY– On Friday, September 24th, 2010, Fort Campbell MWR crowned their newest addition to the Operation Rising Star winner’s club. A well deserved congratulations goes out to Sonja Ambrosino who took home the title of the Fort Campbell Operation Rising Star winner and a $500.00 prize.
When asked what winning Operation Rising Star meant to Sonja, she said, “Words cannot explain how I feel and I am looking forward to the possible opportunities this experience creates.” Sonja also mentioned that the support from her biggest fan and husband, CPT Jason Ambrosino, “helps keep my spirits high and the love for singing alive.” [Read more]
Campbell Crossing hosts Post wide Yard Sale

Fort Campbell, KY – Campbell Crossing will again host the annual Post Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, October 2nd beginning at 7:00am.
All on-post residents are invited to participate and most do so by selling items or shopping in the neighborhoods scattered with deals throughout post. Hundreds of visitors from off-post also visit to hunt through the wide variety of treasures available. Many families preparing to move from Fort Campbell take advantage of this opportunity to sell everything from baby clothes, to furniture, to motorcycles. [Read more]
Giddy Up at the Fort Campbell Riding Stables Speed Show

Fort Campbell, KY – Mirror, mirror on the wall, who has the fastest horse of them all? See whose horse is the fastest, and can cut and turn on a dime at the Fort Campbell Riding Stables (FCRS) Speed Show on August 28th. The show is open to all Fort Campbell Riding Stables boarders and to individuals with horses who are not boarded at the Fort Campbell Riding Stables. Registration begins at 5:30pm and the show starts at 6:30pm.
Privately owned FCRS boarders show fee for the evening is $15.00. For all others, there is a $5.00 per class entry fee and a $3.00 fee for time only poles. Participants of the timed poles can practice a maximum of two times per horse entered in the event.
This event is free for the public and food concessions will be available for purchase. [Read more]

Learn how you can participate in the Volunteer Recruitment Fair and meet these volunteers face-to-face. The Volunteer Recruitment Fair is being held at the Family Resource Center (FRC) on September 21st.
Agencies and organizations who desire to participate should register with Becki Mastrian no later than September 7th. This is a fabulous opportunity to not only obtain FREE help for your organization or agency, but also to empower Soldiers and Military Family members with knowledge and skills that they can use to help the Military community.

Lady Govs volleyball to participate in Run for the Fallen

Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will be among the thousands nationwide participating in the third Run for the Fallen, Saturday, at Waholi Pavilion at Fort Campbell.
The event began in 2008 when a small team of runners ran across the United States to raise awareness about the lives of those service members who fought, keep the spirit of those who fell in action alive and to support organizations that help wounded veterans and the families of those killed. Last year, more than 5,000 participants in 35 states and four countries ran a combined total of more than 31,000 miles. [Read more]
G.I. Jobs magazine names APSU ‘Military Friendly School’

Austin Peay State University has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as Military Friendly School for 2011.
The honor ranks APSU in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, according to a letter from the magazine’s publisher, Rich McCormack.
Military Friendly Schools were chosen based on a postsecondary institution’s policies, efforts and results used to recruit and retain military and veteran students, the letter noted. For instance, in early 2010, APSU President Tim Hall launched the Military Education Task Force to help foster a greater understanding of the needs in training and curriculum for military science and leadership programs. Fort Campbell Director named Army’s Top Civilian

Fort Campbell, KY – Leslie H. Carroll is the 2010 recipient of the Association of the U.S. Army’s Joseph Cribbins Army Civilian Award as its top Army civilian. Carroll, the director of contracting at the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Campbell KY, director of Contracting, will be honored during the AUSA annual meeting in Washington, D.C., this October.
Carroll leads a staff of more than 50 civilian and military contingency contracting officers providing mission-essential contractual support for Fort Campbell units including the 101st Airborne Division, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the 5th Special Forces Group, as well as the garrison and post tenants. In fiscal 2009, Carroll and her staff managed more than $216 million worth of contracts for Fort Campbell, which is an increase of 80 percent from fiscal 2002 and done with a manpower decrease of 38 percent.
