Acuff Circle now accepting nominates for Ovation Awards

Clarksville, TN – The deadline is fast approaching for nominations for the coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts.
The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations. Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, January 20th. The awards ceremony is March 1st at the Customs House Museum.
The sponsoring Acuff Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patrons society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996. [Read more]

Clarksville’s Downtown Artists’ Co-op to host Fourth Regional Art Exposition August 7th

Clarksville, TN – The Downtown Artists’ Co-op is hosting its fourth regional art exposition this August. The 2014 Regional Art Exposition will be on display the month of August in the DAC Gallery and is sponsored by Legends Bank and Sango Wine and Spirits.
All regional artists, at least 18 years of age, are encouraged to enter, and all entries will be accepted. Well-known local artists Frank Lott and Terri Jordan are jurying the entries for awards. [Read more]
Planters Bank Hilldale Gallery to feature Watercolors by Artist Frank Lott in July

Clarksville, TN – Artist Frank Lott will show an exhibit of watercolors at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery on Thursday, July 3rd – Wednesday, August 6th. Both original watercolors and prints will be on display. Framed and unframed prints will be available for sale.
Lott has been a Clarksville resident since 1973 after graduation from Murray State University. In 1978 he and partner Jeff Bibb founded BLF Marketing, a company that provides marketing, advertising and public relations services to clients throughout the Southeast.

2014 Slate of Exhibits Announced
Clarksville, TN – The drawings and paintings of local artist Bob Privett will be on display at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery from Thursday, January 2nd – Wednesday, February 5th.
In his exhibit titled, “Retrospective—Inspirations from April through December,” Privett shares paintings and drawings of people he met and places he visited while traveling through the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Clarksville’s 8th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ coming September 14th, 2013

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 8th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 14th from 9:00am-3:30pm. The free event will showcase the works of 20 local and regional artists, staged and roaming entertainment, artists’ demonstrations, and baked goods – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, handmade toys, wood-turned items, quilts, fabric purses and totes, pottery, wreaths, hand-painted signs, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $250.00.
Fort Defiance Video “Crossroads of Change” Earns Award for Editing Excellence

Clarksville, TN – The locally produced video “Crossroads of Change: Clarksville Tennessee 1861-1865” has won its third award, an Aurora Gold Award for outstanding video editing. The Aurora Awards are an independent and international film and video competition. Eligible projects include commercials, cable programs, documentaries, industrial, instructional, and corporate videos.

BLF Marketing Recognized in International Creative Competition

Clarksville, TN – BLF Marketing was honored with a bronze award in the 2012 Summit Creative Award® competition for its video developed for Clarksville’s Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center. The locally-produced “Crossroads of Change, Clarksville, Tennessee 1861-1865,” was recognized from 4,700 entries received from 22 countries.
