Richview Middle School Students to Compete in National History Day Competition

National History DayClarksville, TN – All Eighth grade PASS (gifted program) students in Montgomery County competed in the district level of the National History Day Contest on February 22nd, 2012.

Students who placed at the district level moved on to compete at the state level on April 22nd, 2012 in Nashville Tennessee.

Emily Ritchart, John Courson, Jake Kolaski, Sidney McCarty, and Cherie Saffold of Richview Middle School are heading to Washington D.C. to compete in National History Day.

Nashville State Community College in Clarksville Admits 1st Student

Nashville State Community CollegeNashville, TN – On May 1st, 2012, Nashville State Community College officially enrolled its first student at the new campus in Clarksville when Tyreco Nolton completed the admissions process and enrolled in classes which begin on August 25th, 2012.

According to Kathy Ragan, the Nashville State admissions representative at the campus, “Tyreco was very diligent in getting his information to the college in order to start classes this fall. He is clearly excited about beginning his education at Nashville State.” [Read more]

5 Austin Peay State University Students serve as 2012 Legislative Interns

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Five Austin Peay State University students are participating in the 2012 Tennessee Legislative Internship Program in Nashville.

Alison Bright, Tricia Collis, Tiffany Kaschel, Kristen Lawson and Randi Perry are interning for various legislators during the Spring 2012 semester. Interns are assigned to legislative leadership offices and committees, and perform various duties, such as bill analysis, constituent work, research and general office work. [Read more]

AT&T and The Nashville Symphony bring music Rossview Elementary School students

Nashville SymphonyNashville, TN – As part of its continuing investment to support the arts and education, AT&T joined the Nashville Symphony this morning for an AT&T Ensembles in the Schools concert. A duo of Nashville Symphony musicians performed two sessions for second and third graders at Rossview Elementary School in Clarksville.

There are more than 35 similar performances slated for this year in Davidson, Wilson, Williamson and Rutherford counties.

Nashville State community College acquires satellite Campus site in Clarksville Tennessee this week

Deal is next step toward holding classes later this year

The Seal of the State of TennesseeClarksville, TN – Members of the Montgomery County legislative delegation announced Friday that Nashville State Community College has formally acquired the former Saturn dealership on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard for its satellite campus.

“I am pleased with the news regarding transfer of ownership of this building to Nashville State Community College,” State Representative Joe Pitts said. “This is another step toward the reality of having this fine institution in the Clarksville higher education community.” [Read more]

“I am grateful to the Department of Environment and Conversation, Tennessee State Parks, and the Dunbar Cave park staff for their help in making this state treasure more accessible,” Pitts said. “Our citizens now have an expanded opportunity to use the park.”

Austin Peay State University to celebrate 40-year anniversary of the ROTC

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In 1971, the U.S. Army established at Austin Peay State University the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) for recruiting, training and commissioning future Army officers.

In the 40 years since, hundreds of cadets have been commissioned at APSU as second lieutenants in the Army. The program also has earned the reputation as one of the nation’s finest, having won several awards for training and management performance standards. PEG channel added to U-verse TV in Clarksville, Tennessee

AT&TClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and AT&T Tennessee today announced that Public, Education and Government (PEG) programming provided by The City of Clarksville is now carried on AT&T U-verse® TV Channel 99.

This station is operated by Austin Peay State University (APSU). APSU’s GovTV channel provides its viewers live and rebroadcast coverage of OVC sports, classic arts showcase, NASA and various community events that also include Clarksville’s city council meetings. AT&T U-verse launched in Tennessee in December 2008.

Austin Peay State University featured on cover of new AT&T Clarksville Phone Directory

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is featured on the cover of the new AT&T Real Yellow Pages directory serving Clarksville and surrounding communities.

APSU is the first to appear on the Real Yellow Pages’ newly designed cover, which was unveiled November 16th during a public announcement on campus. The photograph depicts the excitement of men’s basketball at APSU, one of 15 sports programs offered by the University.
