Clarksville Parks and Recreation Summer Youth Program to feature Activity Packs, Virtual Programming

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will not host an in-person Summer Youth Program this year to ensure the safety of the public during the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. However, plans have been finalized for a free “virtual” summer camp experience!

The virtual camp will be June 1st to July 10th and will consist of two components: weekly activity packs that children can enjoy at home, and virtual programming which will be shared online and on the Clarksville Community Network. Children can participate in one or both components.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer a co-ed youth basketball league for boys and girls ages 7 to 15.

Volunteer coaches will work with children to improve individual skills in dribbling, passing and shooting while instilling values in teamwork and sportsmanship. Parents of players are also expected to help create a positive environment at games by exhibiting good sportsmanship.

Players will be placed on teams through a skills assessment process conducted by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. There will be no draft of players by coaches this year.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Are you looking for a way to ace your child’s activities this winter? Your child can bump, set, and spike their way through the season with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s youth volleyball league for youths ages 9-14.

This league will give participants the opportunity to play volleyball at the recreational level while still being competitive. A National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) trained coach will work with participants to improve individual skills such as bumping, setting, hitting and serving.

City of Clarksville’s Bel-Aire Park gets a facelift

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation reopened Bel-Aire Park, a neighborhood green space on Marie Drive off of Peachers Mill Road, Thursday with new and improved playground equipment.

“When I became Mayor, one thing that was very important to me, was ensuring we had recreational opportunities, parks and other amenities for all children to enjoy,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, joined by more than 50 children and staff from the Kleeman Community Center, cut a ribbon during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Bel-Aire Park June 7th, 2018. The ceremony marked the official reopening of the park, after it received much needed equipment upgrades. Improvements include a new playground that meets the current guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
