I want to take this opportunity to recognize and salute the citizens of Clarksville & Montgomery County for their Random Acts of Kindness and caring spirit during this Christmas Season.

Clarksville’s holds 5th Annual Downtown for the Holidays

Clarksville, TN – In what has become a Christmas Tradition, the City of Clarksville held their annual Downtown for the Holiday event on Saturday.

The event kicked off with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K Road Race in the morning, followed that afternoon by Christmas Caroling on the steps of the Montgomery County Court House along with free hot chocolate for the kids. The evening closed out with the 5th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade.

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay community flexed its muscles, Sunday, when more than 80 volunteers gathered to supply holiday groceries to the Lincoln Homes Community – a section of low-income housing adjacent to Austin Peay’s main campus – as part of the Govs Give Back.

The second-year project, spearheaded by the Austin Peay Fellowship of Christian Athletes, included volunteers from many Governors and Lady Govs sports teams through the Student Athlete Advisory Council, as well as the Baptist Student Ministry, the Church of Christ Student Ministry, UCHURCH and AQUA. The event kicks off with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K hosted by the City of Clarksville and Run for a Reason. The race will begin with a one mile fun run at 8:00am, followed by the 5K. Manna Café Ministries to hold Mobile Pantry this morning

Clarksville, TN – Tell all of your friends and neighbors that this Saturday, October 8th, Manna Café Ministries will be holding a Mobile Pantry at Fellowship United Methodist Church located at 2201 Peachers Mill Road. Free groceries will be distributed to those who are is in need of assistance, beginning at 10:00am (arrive early if at all possible!) Mission Clarksville Students Grow Food at APSU Farm to Help Feed Area’s Hungry

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On a hot morning in July, a group of local teenagers gathered in a massive garden off Pickens Road to get their hands dirty. They came to pull weeds and water plants, and after several hours in the hot sun, they left with several bushels of fresh vegetables.

“It was great having those kids out here,” Dr. Donald Sudbrink, chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Agriculture, said. “They were so enthusiastic about learning and working in our APSU Victory garden.”

Manna Café Ministries Holds Community Yard Sale

August 5, 2011

Manna Café MinistriesClarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries of Clarksville invites the public to our first Community Yard Sale Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at from 7:00am to 2:00pm at Manna House at 1319 East Franklin Street Clarksville.

The benefit will help support three weekly Mobile Café events and other community services of the ministry. “We try to balance any request for funds with a fundraising event, so the community can see the sweat equity we put into the operation,” said Manna founder Kenny York. [Read more]
