107th annual Lone Oak Picnic to be held Saturday, July 25th

Cunningham, TN – The Central Civitan Club will hold the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic this Saturday, July 25th from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend.
Come out and enjoy entertainment, meet public officials, and purchase excellent chicken and pork barbecue. The picnic grounds are located between Hwy 13 and Alonzo Place in Cunningham, TN.
Parking is off of Alonzo Place. Admission is free.
There will be musical entertainment and for the kids there will be train rides and inflatables.
Be More Like Wade Scholarship Fund 5k run to take place Saturday, July 25th

Cunningham, TN – In honor of Wade Morgan’s memory a “Be More Like Wade Scholarship” 5K will take place Saturday, July 25th, 2015 at the Central Civitan Club building just before the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic. Registration starts at 8:00am and the race is slated for 8:30am.
All proceeds will go into a scholarship fund which will be given to a Montgomery Central Senior who demonstrates similar characteristics of #bemorelikewade. He exemplified the true meaning of a genuine person by being a selfless individual and always having an optimistic outlook on life.

Vietnam Veterans of America held their annual Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil Sunday night, May 24th

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, May 25th, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 held their annual Candlelight Vigil to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces withdrew in 1975.
It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not.
Acuff Circle of Excellence to honor Joe W. Giles with Ovation Award

Clarksville, TN – Joe W. Giles, an Austin Peay State University alumnus and founder of the Tennessee Arts Academy, the nation’s flagship professional development program for teachers of the arts, will be honored March 1st with the George Mabry Ovation Award.
The award is one of eight to be given by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contributions in the arts to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. The annual ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st, from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception that follows. Acuff Circle now accepting nominates for Ovation Awards

Clarksville, TN – The deadline is fast approaching for nominations for the coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts.
The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations. Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, January 20th. The awards ceremony is March 1st at the Customs House Museum.

Montgomery Central High School Football Fall Festival draws larger than expected crowd

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 14th, the Montgomery Central High School Football Boosters held their 1st annual Fall Festival at Hilltop Supermarket.
The festival was held to raise money for the MCHS Football team. The money will be used for equipment, jerseys, and other team needs.
“The event was amazing. The turn out was phenomenal. I was really not expecting this many people and this many kids,” stated Indians Football head coach Jeff Tomlinson. “I thought it was a great turn out.”

Clarksville Riverfest’s 2014 Tour d’Art Winners Awarded

Clarksville, TN – After hundreds of artists had their works of art on display at two locations in downtown Clarksville, then judged by artist Mary Addison Hackett, winners were awarded at Clarksville Riverfest’s Tour d’Art Receptions held Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th, 2014.
Over $2,500 in prizes were awarded.
The competition included five categories: Photography & Digital Images, Sculpture, Painting, Mixed Media/Collage, and Drawing. Monetary awards are given to first through third place in each category (for each division) and a Best of Show Award.
