Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) has announced that Jessica Harris, who has 18 years of academic experience in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, has been tapped as the Director of the 24 elementary schools.

We’re starting the night off with a local cover band that has been entertaining Clarksville for over 30 years! The Beagles will take the stage at 7:00pm to perform hits from the 70’s all the way up to today.

AC/DC Tribute Band to Perform at Downtown @ Sundown

Montgomery County, TN – On Friday, September 20th, 2019, the Downtown Commons’ Downtown @ Sundown Concert series will take place from 7:00pm-10:00pm. The acoustic, southern rock group, The Great Divide will perform at 7:00pm, with an AC/DC Tribute band, Thunderstruck, taking the stage at 8:00pm.
Join us for a night of Free music and fun. Food and activity vendors will be on hand and other food is also available in several of the downtown restaurants.
8th annual Green Certification Banquet to be held September 26th

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program will hold its 8th annual Green Certification Banquet on the evening of September 26th. The Banquet celebrates local organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship in our community. This year’s theme is Sustainability in Education.
The Banquet will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. A social hour, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, will include recycling games with great prizes provided by local organizations.
Montgomery County Mayor, Clarksville Mayor Signs Joint Proclamation for Montgomery County Imagination Library

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett and Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts have issued a joint proclamation designating September as Montgomery County Imagination Library Month.
Imagination Library provides free books to children until they begin kindergarten to promote literacy and lifelong learning. The local Imagination Library began in 2005 and is expected to send its millionth book to a child in Montgomery County by February 2020.
Montgomery County’s Civitan Park 25 Acre Expansion Open for Use

Montgomery County, TN – On Friday evening, September 6th, 2019, approximately 200 people gathered to celebrate the much-anticipated opening of the 25-acre expansion, including Rotary’s Field of Dreams, at Montgomery County’s Civitan Park.
The idea for the park expansion began nine years ago with a vision to have a space that kids with special needs could call their own. That vision is now a wonderful reality for children, young adults and parents alike.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) is celebrating the anniversary of Women’s Suffrage with a year of special events.
On the unbearable hot morning of August 26th, 1920, anyone fanning themselves with that day’s Nashville Tennessean newspaper saw a frontpage photo of Gov. A. H. Roberts signing the state’s passage of the 19th Amendment.
Arcadia Senior Living becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

Montgomery County, TN – The latest local business to join the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program is Arcadia Senior Living. A green ribbon cutting was held on August 26th to celebrate its achievement. The ribbon cutting was attended by City of Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, Program Manager Carlye Sommers and Program Board Members Daryl Pater, Gene Fish, Doug Jones and Melinda Shepard.
Arcadia is the first senior living facility to join the Green Certification Program. Jackie Stone, Executive Director and her staff have worked to create a sustainable building that promotes sustainability not only with staff but also with residents. Common areas of the facility are 95% LED lit and the majority include occupancy sensors.
