Clarksville, TN – A few years ago, a group of Austin Peay State University (APSU) students found themselves deep in the Florida Everglades, helping clean up an abandoned military site.
Few people knew the installation existed because, during the Cold War, the U.S. Government kept 11,000-pound Nike Hercules missiles – all aimed at Cuba – at this hidden base.
APSU introduces first helicopter in its rotor-wing fleet

Clarksville, TN – GOV 1 has landed. Austin Peay State University (APSU) officials on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 unveiled the first of three helicopters in its new rotor-wing fleet. The helicopters bolster the state’s first and only aviation science program with a rotor-wing concentration.

Clarksville, TN – As part of the Global Engage partnership between the Austin Peay State University Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement, the APSU Learning Opportunities Office, and the APSU Study Abroad Office, 13 students and three staff members participated in a service trip to St. Louis, Missouri, last month.
Gallery Talk on September 16th with Award-Winning Artists at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum will host a gallery talk for its current exhibition Women Painting Women: In Earnest on Saturday, September 16th, 2017.
The exhibit grew from an online blog in 2009, highlighting women artists working in the figurative tradition. Guest speakers at the museum event include co-founder Alia El-Bermani. Her paintings and drawings have been showcased in museums throughout the world.
APSU students complete more than 400 hours of service during fall break

Collectively, these students completed more than 400 hours of community service.
Hilltop Super Market’s 5th annual BBQ Cook Off started Friday with Wing Cooking, Hot Wing Eating Contests

Clarksville, TN – Hilltop Super Market kicked off their 5th annual BBQ Cook off Friday, May 2nd with a wing cooking contest and a hot wing eating contest. The weather was perfect, slight cloudy, warm with a slight cool breeze. Good weather for outdoor cooking.
Contestants for the BBQ Cook Off were setup, ready for tomorrows contest. Some were cooking and selling to those in attendance.
Clarksville Youth Educational Excursion

St Louis, MO – Youth from Clarksville, Tennessee embarked on an educational excursion that began with the Missouri Historical Museum where they learned about the Missouri’s rich history and viewed the NFL Hall of Fame exhibits.
The next day the group went on a walking guided tour around them Arch prior to taking the tram to take in St Louis from the top followed by a Riverboat cruise. Upon disembarking the group visited the Historical Courthouse where the Dred Scott Trail took place and were able to participate in the reenactment of the trial.
LEAP plans Youth Summer Educational Excursion
