APSU Downtown Gallery presents exhibit of new media works by Brian Cantrell

Austin Peay Downtown Art GalleryClarksville, TN – Artist and Austin Peay State University graduate Brian Cantrell is bringing his innovative mediation on the heavens and the different dimensions of existence to Clarksville this November with a new exhibition, “Spiritvs Ex Machina,” at the APSU Downtown Gallery.

The show, featuring recent new media works by Cantrell is running now through November 28th.

Clarksville’s 6th Annual Downtown for the Holidays December 1st

Downtown for the HolidaysClarksville, TN – Be a part of a Clarksville tradition by celebrating this year at the 6th Annual Downtown for the Holidays celebration presented by the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government, in Downtown Clarksville, December 1st, 2012.

The event kicks off with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K hosted by the City of Clarksville and Run for a Reason. The 5K race will begin at 8:00am, in downtown Clarksville. Registration is available now at www.active.com.

Pre-register by November 15th and pay only $20.00. If you register between November 16th and November 30th, the cost is $25.00. Registration will be available on race day, cost will be $30.00. All proceeds will benefit the Food Initiative. [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville together with U.S. Bank will be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley once more this season on Friday, October 19th, 2012. Join us for this month’s free concert beginning at 7:00pm.

The concert features trio, “Ten Strings and Tom”, named for the instruments in their band- six string guitar, four string bass, and a Tom or one drum of a drum set. Members include Syd Hedrick (Guitar and Vocals), Skip Clark (Bass), and Tom Nadeau (Drums). They’ll be sure to keep your toes tapping performing songs of other famous power trios like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and others. [Read more]

The exhibit, which opens with a reception from 5:00pm-8:00pm on October 4th, will feature drawings and paintings inspired by the incredible rate of vegetative growth in the landscape of Middle Tennessee.

The concert features four good ole boys from the backwoods of Clarksville, Tennessee. Don’t let that fool you, because they know how to rock! What began as a high school pastime turned into something even they weren’t expecting. Their band, Backroad Brigade, is like no other bands of their generation. Instead of power pop or death metal, they keep the sound of good, old-fashioned rock and roll alive.

Manna Café Ministries hosts Chili Cook-off on Strawberry Alley

Manna Café MinistriesClarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries will host its first annual Chili Cook-off on Friday, October 12th in Strawberry Alley. Perfect your favorite chili recipe and enter your team today! Teams can be up to six members large and must prepare their chili on-site to be judged that evening. Activities include live music, a pirate costume contest, booth theme contest, and of course, chili judging! Grand prize is $1,000!

Manna Café Ministries is a faith-based organization devoted to meeting the needs of homeless and low-income families in Montgomery County. Each week, Manna Café provides hot meals and food boxes to over 500 local citizens, serving three meals a week. All proceeds will remain local and assist and feed Clarksvillians in need. [Read more]
