Cooling at the Cave back, bigger than ever
July 31, 2019
Clarksville, TN – The Friends of Dunbar Cave hosted its annual Cooling at the Cave on Saturday, July 27th, 2019, drawing what some said was the largest crowd ever for the event that takes the citizens of Clarksville more than half-a-century back in time.
Hundreds enjoyed the music of Clarksville’s own Cumberland Winds Jazz Project, under the direction of Mike Ritter. The band set up near the mouth of the cave, from which spills cool air year round. A feature that decades ago made Dunbar Cave the most popular venue in town.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park plays host to Cooling at the Cave
July 30, 2014
Clarksville, TN – Another successful Cooling at the Cave was held Saturday July 26th. As in the old days, everyone gathered around the cave’s entrance to listen to the music and to let the constant cool breeze blowing from the mouth of the cave cool them off. Before air conditioning, locals gathered at the cave to cool off and have fellowship with others.
The entertainment this year was again provided by the extremely popular Cumberland Wind Jazz Project. They played big band music from the 1930′s to 1960′s. Several events goers took to the dance floor and enjoyed themselves greatly.
