Clarksville Senior Olympics to kick off May 4th

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Senior adults ages 50 and up can register now until April 29th for the 2011 Clarksville Senior Olympics. This year’s events will be May 4th-7th at various locations around Clarksville, including The Swan Lake Sports Complex and Golf Course, Kleeman Community Center, The Pinnacle Bowling Center, and Burt-Cobb Community Center.

Seniors will face off for bragging rights, as well as medals in more than 20 challenging events, which include shuffleboard, tennis, track, golf, bowling, basketball free throw, pickle ball and billiards. Because we now have the Indoor Aquatic Center, swimming events have been added. [Read more]

31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic

City of ClarksvilleThe 31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic is set to take place this September 18th-19th at Swan Lake Golf Course. This popular golf tournament is a favorite among local golfers and features one of the largest fields of amateur players in the area.

Mayors Golf ClassicThe Mayor’s Golf Classic is also the last tournament of the year that offers points for the Local Tournament of Champions.

The deadline to enter the tournament is noon on Thursday, September 16th. The tournament is limited to 124 players. The entry fee of $110.00 includes one practice round at Swan Lake Golf Course on either September 13th through 17th (Practice round must be scheduled at Swan Lake and does not include a golf cart), lunch on both days of the tournament, use of a golf cart, commemorative gifts and the opportunity to win prizes. “Scramble Fore a Cure” to benefit breast cancer research

Breast Cancer RibbonGary Mathews Motors, Inc., will be host their 16th Annual Golf Scramble called, “Scramble Fore A Cure”, September 26th, 8:00am at Swan Lake Golf Course. This year the event is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer. All proceeds will benefit breast cancer research.

Participants are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Enrollment is limited to the first 24 teams. Four members per team at $50.00 per person. This fee covers one game of golf and golf cart.

Humane Society of Clarksville Beneficiary of Golf Tournament Proceeds

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)The Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC) would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the Pi Kappa Alpha Eta Tau Alumni Association for their generous donation of $5,500.

The Pi Kappa Alpha Eta Tau Alumni Association, spearheaded by Scott Beasley, worked tirelessly to organize and present “The Waggle”, a two-man golf tournament which was held on July 17th, 2010 to benefit the HSCMC.

Numerous local businesses supported “The Waggle” with monetary hole sponsorships as well as with prizes to be given away to the participants of the tournament. Nearly 50 two-man teams played a fun-filled round of golf at the Swan Lake Golf Course, and no one left empty handed.

Scenes include McGregor park and the cumberland river from the Wendy’s parking lot, Austin Peay State University’s Dunn center and baseball field, road closure of Farris drive behind the APSU baseball field due to high water, and the road closure of Dunbar Cave road at Dunbar Cave State park and Swan Lake golf course.
