Liberty Park Pond to be closed June 5th-11th

Clarksville, TN – In order to provide a fun experience for participants in the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) Youth Fishing Rodeo on June 9th, 2012 we ask that the public refrain from using the pond at Liberty Park beginning at 6:00am on June 5th through 2:00pm on June 11th.
The Youth Fishing Rodeo is a free event coordinated at Liberty Park pond on Saturday, June 9th. For more information about the fishing rodeo, please visit www.cityofclarksville.com.

Billy Dunlop Park will be closed to the public Sunday, June 3rd thru Friday, June 8th for the Boy Scouts.

Clarksville’s Liberty Park opened Friday

Clarksville, TN – Liberty Park opened yesterday morning at dawn and Clarksvillians were ready and waiting for the opening of the park areas of the new Clarksville Marina.
Fishermen were the first on hand. They had been eying the pond for months looking forward for the chance to be one of the first anglers to try their luck there. By 10:00am around 20 anglers had staked out their positions around the banks.

Nashville, TN – The Annual Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Clarksville Parks and Recreation Youth Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday, June 9th, 2012 at the Liberty Park Pond in Clarksville Tennessee.
The 2012 Free Fishing Day in Tennessee is also Saturday, June 9th when anyone in the state may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters. [Read more]
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency set to host Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summit in Montgomery County

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host the Third Annual Tennessee Outdoors Youth Summit (TOYS), June 10th-15th, 2012 for high school students from across Tennessee. The students will be introduced to many outdoor activities at the event to be held at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex near Clarksville.
Among the different outdoor activities that the students will have an opportunity to become introduced to will include boating, hunting, trapping, archery, photography, marksmanship, plant identification, forestry, camping, water quality, trap shooting, skeet shooting, wildlife identification, and several classes with wildlife and fishery biology as the topic. 38th Annual Tennessee Entomological Society Meeting in Nashville next Month

Clarksville, TN – A typical ant is only about one-eighth of an inch long and weighs around 3 milligrams. At that size, it should be considered relatively harmless, but most people don’t want the insects inside their houses. Termites and bedbugs might be a little larger, roughly a quarter of an inch in size, but they are equally unpopular as houseguests.
On September 29th and 30th, some of the state’s top scientific minds will take up the topic of pest detection and control methods during the 38th Annual Meeting of the Tennessee Entomological Society (TES). [Read more]
Liberty Park Boaters Urged to Exercise Caution

Clarksville, TN – As the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department extends the hours of the new Liberty Park boating access this Fourth of July Weekend, patrons are urged to be cautious entering and exiting the park because of ongoing construction.
Please be aware of the continuing work at various parts of the park and yield to construction equipment traffic.
Liberty Park boat ramp to open additional days this holiday Weekend

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department will open the Liberty Park boat ramp for an additional day this Fourth of July Weekend. The new, four-lane boat ramp and two boat docks will be open Friday, July 1th, through Monday, July 4th, from 7:00am to 8:00pm. However, because of Sunday’s Independence Day Celebration, the ramp will be open 7:00am to midnight to accommodate boaters.

Annual TWRA, Clarksville Parks and Recreation Youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday
Clarksville, TN – On the second Saturday in June each year, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency allows all residents and non-residents to fish without a license. Children ages 16 and under are urged to bring their fishing poles and bait to the pond at Liberty Park for free fishing from 8:00am to 10:30am, June 11th. Registration will begin at 7:00am.

The other portions of Liberty Park will remain closed, except for the boat ramp and boat docks that are now open from 7:00am to 8:00pm each Saturday and Sunday.
