On view from April 2nd to June 2nd, this special exhibition commemorates four decades of the Museum’s dedication to collecting and preserving art.

Clarksville, TN – From the warm red earth of Arizona to the tranquil mountain valleys of New Zealand, from the twinkling late-night lights of Paris to the bright blue skies of Peru – Lori Putnam’s newest exhibit takes Customs House Museum & Cultural Center visitors around the world through the lens of modern impressionism.
Recognized for her expressive brushwork, contemporary compositions and intelligent use of color, Lori Putnam paints small to medium-sized works en plein air and creates large paintings in her studio in Charlotte, Tennessee. Her new exhibit, Far from Home, includes 29 new works inspired by her travels.
Customs House Museum & Cultural Center Hosts Breaking Through: The Rise of American Women Artists

Clarksville, TN – Continuing their celebration of women in the arts, the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is currently hosting the exhibit Breaking Through: The Rise of American Women Artists. This juried show includes 124 paintings and sculptures by members of American Women Artists (AWA).
AWA is a nonprofit membership organization made up of women artists, patrons, and gallery owners throughout the United States and Canada.
Since its inaugural exhibition in 1990, AWA has worked to increase the number of professional opportunities for women in the visual fine arts through museum shows, symposiums, workshops, international exhibitions, and juried competitions in leading galleries around the country.

The exhibit is sponsored by Tri-Star Beverage and MPG Transport and spans across several galleries within the Museum.

Clarksville, TN – Artist Mike Egan loves to paint death. His work, done in bold, brightly-hued acrylic, portrays the subject with a bit of humor and homage to Mexican folk art.
In his exhibition, Mike Egan: Modern Pop, simplistic shapes and black outlines dance across the wood panels displayed on the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery walls at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center in a celebratory fashion.

In 2020, the Seattle-based painter focused on the quiet moments of her life. A Life’s Work is a collection of those moments of light and shadows that filled her studio and home.

Clarksville, TN – A new series of landscapes makes its debut at the Wade Bourne Nature Center in Rotary Park. “When the Gates Open” is a suite of oil paintings capturing the scenery of the park itself. Artist Terri Jordan, known best for her figurative work, explores the beauty of the changing seasons over the past year, documenting the creek and paths explored by her family on a regular basis.

Two new, highly anticipated exhibitions are now up for the public to visit: The Power of Women: Celebrating the Suffrage Movement and Practice Makes Perfect: Twenty Years of the Cumberland Furniture Guild.
This month the country will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, and Clarksville has plenty of history to share on the subject.
