Clarksville, TN – Skeletons, vintage rabbits, and ceramic cats are but a few of the quirky objects found in the Customs House Museum’s Crouch Gallery. Matthew Deric Gore’s exhibition, Setting the Stage, brings to life trinkets and flowers within moody, dark backgrounds of shadowed wallpapers.
Strange pairings make for interesting narratives for the viewer’s imagination in Gore’s realistic style of painting.

Clarksville artist Terri Jordan Exhibits New Series “Given What You’re Given”
May 14, 2018
Springfield, TN – A selection of the paintings on view at the gallery of the Copper Vault in Springfield during the month of May are from a new series entitled “Given What You’re Given” by artist Terri Jordan. The new works include objects from the artist’s past homes and experiences.
Jordan says of the suite, “As in all my work, there are subtle symbols and points of reference within the landscapes of canvas. But in this suite, the works exhibited are part of a reflective moment. Since reaching the age of fifty, I continuously find that I am looking to my past while at the same time considering what I have left and what I will be leaving my son in guidance, memories, and a sense of being”.

New Austin Peay State University exhibit honors legacy of late artist Tom Malone
April 25, 2018
Clarksville, TN – The artist Tom Malone, who passed away in 1998, had the uncanny ability to make people think. Coming across one of his celebrated faces in a gallery, viewers would often pause and stare deeply into the eyes. “Who is this woman?” they might ask. Or, “Why do I feel that I know her?”
“The intense styling of the eyes marks a signature style for Malone,” Terri Jordan, a Clarksville artist and exhibits curator for the Customs House Museum, said. “His faces look back at the viewer, unapologetic and familiar. Whether simple line drawings or vivid impressionistic pastels, each face Malone drew leaves the onlooker curious to learn her secrets…and that is talent.”
