The twenty-six graphite works bring together futuristic elements married with a sense of nostalgia.

Murphy’s sense of humor is evident in these illustrative happenings through mergings of Southern culture and B-movie sci-fi.

Customs House Museum becomes Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is the first organization of 2017 to celebrate their Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Chamber of Commerce Director Melinda Shepard, several CMC Green Certification Steering Committee Members and several Museum Board Members attended their green ribbon cutting.

Workshop for writers at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Regional writers will be given the opportunity to participate in a workshop with noted poet Stellasue Lee on Saturday, January 28th. Dr. Lee will be leading a class entitled “Saying the Unsayable”.

“Journal Writing/ transformation line is the key to a door of the subconscious. It is how one discovers what they are thinking/feeling. Explaining the unexplainable is something of a magic act; showing up to a blank page with an unfettered mind takes some doing,” said Dr. Lee.

David Iacovazzi-Pau Portraits Opens at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum features the figurative work of international artist David Iacovazzi-Pau this month in the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. The suite of ten, made up of sketches as well as oils on canvas, date from 2013 to 2016.

Many of the works included in the exhibition such as Self Portrait with Maya in the Studio, in which the artist stands before an art-filled wallpapered background, give a nod to the art of Alice Neel with his use of color and negative space.

Noted Artist Anton Weiss Exhibiting at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Crouch Gallery of the Customs House Museum celebrates the career of Anton Weiss. The works on display in the exhibition Anton Weiss: Reaching for Infinity represent the creativity of the artist from the 1970s to 2016, in both 2D and 3D pieces.

Visitors are greeted upon entry to the show with Pangea Column. A tall work of art comprised of copper, aluminum, and bronze, it acts almost as an exhibition guard, full of Weiss’ signature earthy hues.
