Nashville Artist Guild Commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is currently showcasing the art of the Nashville Artist Guild in its Kimbrough Gallery through February with the exhibit “Divided Loyalties.”
The show represents the artistic interpretations of the many different aspects of the War Between the States within a variety of media.

Clarksville, TN – Beginning November 11th the galleries of the Customs House Museum will showcase the horse. Included in the Season of Equine are paintings, antiques, photographs, sculptures, and vintage toys.
The two-story Crouch Gallery will feature the art of Eric L. Hansen, titled Blood Rescue.

Clarksville, TN – Paintings by Internationally known artist Margaret Evangeline are on view in the Customs House Museum’s Kimbrough Gallery through October.
Evangeline’s work has been featured in Art in America, The New York Times, ArtNews, The New Yorker and many other publications. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in venues such as The Drawing Center, Art in General, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Palm Beach ICA, the Hafnarborg, Reykjavik and the Taipei Museum in Taiwan among others.
Bold Dizygotics on View at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – “Twins” is the theme in the Customs House Museum’s Crouch Gallery this September. Specifically, those created by Ohio artist Leslie Shiels.
Twins can either be monozygotic, “identical”, meaning that they develop from one zygote that splits and forms two embryos, or dizygotic, “fraternal”, because they develop from two separate eggs. Shiels’ animals appear more as portraits within patterns of positive and negative.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum presents The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections in the museum’s Orgain Gallery. The exhibition runs through September 7th, and features the work of notable artists Reverend Howard Finster, Georgia Blizzard, and Mose T, among others.
“This showing of works exemplifies the characteristics of the Outsider artist,” states Exhibits Curator Terri Jordan. “We are thrilled that Mr. Hicks and Mr. Vander Elst are sharing their treasures with us. This show is a great treat for the museum’s visitors. Our younger guests seem especially excited with the artwork.”

Clarksville’s Downtown Artists’ Co-op to host Fourth Regional Art Exposition August 7th

Clarksville, TN – The Downtown Artists’ Co-op is hosting its fourth regional art exposition this August. The 2014 Regional Art Exposition will be on display the month of August in the DAC Gallery and is sponsored by Legends Bank and Sango Wine and Spirits.
All regional artists, at least 18 years of age, are encouraged to enter, and all entries will be accepted. Well-known local artists Frank Lott and Terri Jordan are jurying the entries for awards. [Read more]
