Rivers and Spires Student Volunteers Learn Life Lessons

Clarksville, TN – Behind the scenes at the Rivers and Spires Festival, hundreds of volunteers invest time and energy into keeping the festival clean, safe and fun for all attendees.
In 2015, more than 300 local high school students volunteered their time in Rivers and Spires’ Family Fun Zone and Toddler Town areas. In all, the students logged nearly 900 hours of service time.
Two of the participating schools were selected to win last the Mayor’s Volunteer Cup Trophy in 2015 based on service hours, student participation, and attitude.

Clarksville to Host TMSAA Cross-Country, Track & Field State Championships

Rivers and Spires announces new Friday Night Headliner for 2015 Festival

Clarksville, TN – Rivers and Spires officials are excited to announce country act Love and Theft will headline this year’s festival. The duo with their latest chart – climbing single, “Whiskey On My Breath” is set to perform at 9:00pm Friday, April 17th, at the public square stage.
Love and Theft, comprised of Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson, have three widely acclaimed albums and numerous hits. This year they received their third consecutive Vocal Duo Of The Year nomination at the CMA Awards.
Matt Cunningham Reveals Designs for New Distillery in Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – Construction of the Old Glory Distillery has begun on Alfred Thun road and the President of Old Glory Distilling Co., Matt Cunningham shared designs, future products and his motivations to start the project in a presentation at the Hilton Garden Inn, Friday, February 6th.
Several people including Tennessee Senator Mark Green and the Executive Director of the Clarksville Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Theresa Harrington were in attendance and spoke along with Cunningham at the event.
Five AAU National Basketball Championships in Four Years Means Millions of Dollars For Clarksville – Montgomery County Community

Clarksville, TN – Over the next four years, Clarksville-Montgomery County will host five high economic impact AAU Basketball Championships bringing in a total of $8.9 million of revenue. The 2015 event will be held this upcoming July 10th-15th.
The community will welcome the 2015-2018 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 10U Boy’s Basketball National Championships as well as the 2016 AAU 6th Grade Girl’s National Championships. In total, over 15,000 visitors will pass through to be a part of, or watch, the games. The 2017-2018 boy’s tournaments were recently awarded to the team at Visit Clarksville after a rigorous bid process. [Read more]
Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau offering group tours packages mixing local attractions, big-name concerts

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is engaging in an exciting new Group Tour program that enhances local tourism, while at the same time providing amazing entertainment options for local residents right here at home.
A series of group tours lasting for 4 days each are planned for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day; and are billed as “Heroes, Hometowns and Legends.” With the final tour this year being a 3 day event planned for the Christmas season billed as “God, Country, Christmas.”
2014 Rivers and Spires Festival Attendance Tops 41,000

Clarksville, TN – It was a record setting year for Clarksville’s 2014 Rivers and Spires, as the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville saw over 41,000 Festival attendees over the April 24th-26th weekend.
Festival organizers say that this year’s event was the second largest Rivers and Spires to date, falling right behind the 2010 Festival.

Clarksville, TN – Yesterday was the opening of the 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival, and Clarksvillians turned out in droves to enjoy the first day of the free three day festival. The weather was perfect neither too hot nor too cold, and threatening rain held off until after the Festival had concluded for the evening.
I asked Theresa Harrington, the Executive Director CVB and Vice President Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council how she thought things were going, “I think it’s gonna be great! This weather is going to be the best that we’ve ever had I think. Good crowds are showing up already tonight. You can come down and see see the Clydesdales, stilt walkers, you can see the bands and enjoy the entertainment! The Festival has everything that you can possibly imagine.”
